Hold down f5 and enter, and have another window open with your userlookup. Just refresh your UL page every once in awhile to see if the # of avatars you have went up. Easiest and fastest way to get it.

Bah. I'll have to try the F5 method once I get back to my own house. I hate using IE and NetZero dial-up to play on Neopets. >_<

Finally got it! 
Weird thing I noticed: after a couple of refreshes on the boards, all the people using the avs had the battle faerie "fight" one instead, and apparently people have also been seeing one with "battle". I didn't get a screenie though, unfortunately.

I remember something similar happening back when the "Boo!" Evil Fuzzle avatar was released. Occasionally everyone using it had it replaced with the "Angry" Darigan avatar. It was fixed the next day.
Must just be a small glitch with URLs getting mixed up. *shrug*

ok I'm dumb, I can't beat the inflatable balthazar, I can hit him repeatedly, but I can't beat him. Anyone else having this problem?
edit: Ugh, I finally just withdrew the weakling and killed it off with my well equipped pet. Now I have the avatar, excellent

Finaly I got the avatar!! I was refreshing so fast I almost missed when I got the RE. I just happend to see a flash of yellow and when I checked I had it!

I got my avie by refreshing the win page after defeating the snow beast. I think it's supposed to be a battledome wide random and not just a HAIC plot event.

Thanks Waking Reality. I wasn't sure if it was only a one-player bd avvie because everyone was discussing beating the chia clown and inflatable balthazar. It's nice to know I can get it for the snow beast
