Again, I have a constellation finder up.
http://hacks.atrus.org/neopets/findConstellations.fcgi

Apparently I somehow got a typo in the script last night, which caused everyone to get "500 internal server error" between 5 and 11am EST. Sorry about that. I'm happy I checked it this morning.

Thank you, I have it now.

Guests would read it though, and spread it around to other places.

I guess it's not as big of a deal for me, cause I don't use it anyway. It's fun matching up the guide on the Ye Old Star Mapper, lol.

I intentionally licensed my script under the GPL; you're welcome to host it yourself or make a new version.

I added all of the templates from Stooder's constellation finder before it went down. I commented out unreleased constellations on principle. I have a script to generate templates given a set of coords and another (not quite finished) to find all potential constellations given two sets of star data.

The only vaguely icky thing is that the server has to have FastCGI (use mod_Fcgid for Apache) for it to run. Switching it to regular CGI is a two line change, but would injure performance. If Stooder's script is still available somewhere, it would probably be easier to setup. Or maybe I should write a JavaScript version finally :p

The odd thing is, from what I've seen on that site, our astrolabe isn't an astronomical astrolabe, it's a Mariner's astrolabe! That is, this thing determines your latitude at sea using the sun or a fixed star, as opposed to the kind of astrolabe that predicts the time of sunrise and sunset and is a reference for celestial bodies and constellations.

Coincidental, that we received this handy seagoing tool after the Wave's constellation, but not quite the kinda thing an aspiring astronomer would find terribly useful.

Oh, everyone thinks I'm crazy, just 'cause I try to warn people about the face-sucking aliens headed for Earth. Yeah, laugh now, have your face sucked off later. When the aliens come, I'll be the only one left with a face, and I'll be using that face to laugh at all of you, even though I'll be sad.
