After 60 piles of sand, i finally got a Lost Desert Paint Brush. That'll keep me happy for an hour ;)

Only an hour?!?

Congrats!

Yep, only an hour. I'm hard to please ;) and thanks.

And thanks lyohe, but remember, it's completely random when (or if you get it). I just happen to get it on my 60th try. I doubt there's anyone else at 60 grabs yet. So it's completely random when you get it (if you get it).

It seems as though they are rewarding those who have trained their pets and therefore, those people have a better chance of getting more handfuls of sand.

Here again that really isn't fair for the fact that new people join every day there is no way a person who just started could or would have enough time to train their pet as say me with 25 months, and my 25 months is nothing compared to those who have been with neopets since the beginning. I think neopets needs to either group everyone, or make it to where everyone has the same shot at completing the plot.
I know there is no way I will come in the top winners, but hopefully its not like the Mystery Island plot.

I came onto Neo when the Mystery Island plot was going. I had no idea what to do or where to go, and therefore did not compete. I don't hold it against TNT or any of the winners. It is part of the game. If you are a determined player and want to be involved, then it takes time and knowledge. Knowledge is gained from playing.

I did poorly in the Maraqua War (low ranked #2) warrior (don't get me started!!) But I wouldn't change it. Being all the same would be boring.

I agree.

I've been playing since mid-April. The only Event (afaik) that I could've taken place in before this one is the Maraqua War. Unfortunately, I found out the day the war started that I'd lost my chance to register in it. I don't blame anyone for that.

My only regret is that I really liked the look of the Maraqan Sidebar Theme and that appears to be open only to those who were in that Event.

So now I'm in this Event. When it started looking like Agil was a factor in digging out, I started pumping in Agil and seeing what happened. When I heard about the possibility of a war at the tail end of this, I started working on the other attributes... I'm trying to get all I can before I go to L21 so I don't have to pay 2+ codestones any longer than I have to.

I think it all just comes down to how much time, energy and $$ (NP) you want to put into your pets, the wars, the plots, etc. I've been on Neopets for a long time, and I could have spent more time training up my pets, earning NPs, and I think I've done alright, but it doesn't bother me if someone else who has been on longer or even shorter than me who is more dedicated and will therefore get greater rewards. Nothing is ever "fair." That's just not possible! :) I'm just glad for the chance to participate in this event. I usually miss out!

Edit: Sorry for the long quotes, and congrats on your paint brush!!

Maybe if your pet's intelligence is really high, they can think "Hey, why bother carrying this back to civilization, it's just sand, why not just throw it behind me?". Oh, and also, finally, a use for agility, it seemed pretty useless before (at least to one-player battlers)

Possible waiting times:
Agility: 0-30 every 3 hours
Agility: 31-45 every 2.5 hours
Agility: 46-60 every 2 hours
Agility: 61-75 every 1.5 hours
Agility: 75+ every hour

I don't know if anyone's still trying to figure out the exact times, but my pet has 57 agility, and I can go back after 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Cranberry, did you just go and grab sand and get the message that it is nearly complete?

Hmm... just grabbed my 6th handful, and I got my third item. It seems that if you dig around the :00, :20 and :40 second mark, you get an item. I've done it twice on the :40, and just did it on the :20. Someone want to confirm these?

As a note, at the :20, I got a book. Both of the :40, I got desert food.

First time posting here. Just wanted to say that I forgot to wait for one of the times, so on the random seconds, I just got sand. This time I waited until the 00 second mark and got a book. I'll try it at 10 next time to see if it's every ten or every twenty second mark.

Give it a prophesy other than the translation of your tablet.

Yeah, it's been like that the past two or three times I've grabbed sand.

I guess this is the last "layer" for us to clear.. and probably the repository will "open" on Tuesday.. along with plot #7? Or is it #8?

I've quite had enough of the sand.. only thing keeping me going is the hopes that I'll get a paint brush from it.. although I know it's close to impossible :P

I can't stand sand in my inventory anymore and I trashed all of it and and the items into my gallery.. lol
