I was thinking about WCs today, and I came up with a few small changes the programmers could make that would cut down on the complaining (a LOT) while still keeping the spirit of the "new" WC's.

1. Keep the "3 pieces per day" limit, but make it per game... or if that's not acceptable, per world. I don't think it would harm the economy too much if someone could earn three Tyrannia pieces and three Faerieland ones in a day. There are probably a few people who could earn a lot of pieces this way, but most WCers are only good in a couple worlds, so it wouldn't make much of a difference.

2. Keep the rotation of "unpopular" games, but instead of making it a different game every day, make it a different game every hour. That way if someone's only good at one of the "unpopular" games, they could still earn their three pieces per day, but would just have to wait a few hours to play instead of a few days.

3. Make it so that when people win a challenge, the picture goes directly into their WC gallery instead of their inventory, so they don't get doubles. I maintain that changing this was the biggest mistake the WC programmers made. It's what ruined the WC, not all the rest of these changes. If they keep the downgraded prizes for series one and two and the decent pbs for series three, it would still take someone three weeks to earn a top prize, assuming they played every single day. That's still a very small amount of NP earned compared to restockers.

4. If they insist on keeping the "pieces to inventory" thing, at least make it so all pieces are equally common. They certainly are not right now. Every single day I play my three games, I get at least one of Tyrannia 1.1, Tyrannia 1.18, or Tyrannia 1.20 (yesterday I got all three again).

I don't know why they refuse to listen to us, even a little bit. TNT is usually so good at listening to user complaints and adapting parts of the site to make us happier, while not sacrificing their own plans. They must know that no one is happy with the WC as it is now. I don't understand why they don't want to make it the best it can be, especially right now, when it's being spotlighted in their magazine and is therefore going to have more attention focused on it. Even if they just made a few small changes like the ones I've proposed above, they would make a LOT of people much, much happier.

All good ideas Cranberry! I'm glad someone is thinking proactively!

1. 3 pieces per world is absolutely reasonable. This will limit how fast you can convert a given map, but still motivate folks to try to experiment in playing in other worlds.

2. I don't understand the purpose of rotating unpopular games at all. What's the driving force to TNT doing this?

3. We've been all over this topic of pieces going to the map vs. inventory. I find it unbelievable that TNT hasn't responded to our complaints on this issue. There is no disputing the validity of our argument, especially pertaining to how this rule change facilitates hoarding and price gauging.

4. "If they insist on keeping the "pieces to inventory" thing, at least make it so all pieces are equally common." This is just common sense. I guarantee you TNT will claim that the distribution of the pieces is completely random. And when you ask them for statistics, they'd probably claim they were eaten by a herd of Tonu.

I can't beleive it and after all my complaints On this game they consider un popular ~ I've even placed 15 in the all time winners. I guess all the struggling and stress it has given me has been worth it. I can't beleive I am in 9th place in the addvert attack for monthly winners. I'm shocked. This game is still really a challenge for me. I guess it's all in the timming.

 Guess I will keep playing.

I converted Tyrannia 1 yesterday and got a Halloween petpet paint brush. Those are worth 80k and it would have been an okay prize for set 1, except I had to spend 50k buying five map pieces because it was going to take me forever to earn them. Because pieces are not given out completely randomly, I had a bunch of 1.1 pieces (which are so common that they sell on the wiz for 5k, compared to the others, which can go from 15-20k) and no one wanted to trade for them, or for my 1.18 and 1.20 pieces.

Then I converted Tyrannia 2 (I had been trading away doubles for the past couple weeks, so I had a full set), and I got a Striped paint brush, which sold for 240K. That's not bad (although full maps do sell for more), and I'm not complaining about that. I actually think the prizes are pretty fair; it's just piece awarding that sucks. If we could earn three pieces per world and they went into our gallery instead of our inventory -- like I said at the top of page 8 -- things would be great.

I wouldn't complain as much if they continued to went into our Invo's to Cran.

I've refused to play any games by to earn 3k NP total off of one game and thats all I do with games anymore untill they get this thing resolved, because it hurts us in the long run.

Ugggh... I go home for the weekend and discovered that the only game I can earn pieces in (Whack-a-ghost) is gone. I'm not super mad because I can play the challenge at most one weekend a month, but I never ever had a problem with getting enough people to play that game. It was popular enough. -.-

With this new "piece to inventory" thing ... it is driving out all the hoarder dumb-smurfs (yes, I actually typed the name of a little blue creature there) into the WC's trying to make a quick NP buck.

Here is the situation ... it is way too easy to get "stuck" needing only 1 or 2 map pieces. I've earned doubles, even triples and quads ... trying to collect that last piece I need. Some people are eager to trade swap their pieces, but then of course there are the evil hoarders.

It is these people out there that are coming out of the woodwork that end up having the map piece you need. They refuse to trade you the piece you need, but will "haggle" with you about a pure NP price. Of course, they are asking "only 150k" for it.

So, I have 19 pieces ... and someone wants me to spend 150k to finish my map ... so I can get a prize that will probably end up being worth 350k. This means that the greedy hoarder makes almost 15 times the amount selling his piece as I do playing the WC and gaining the prize for converting?

Who wins in the end? The hoarder. So it seems this new system is not stopping hoarders and price fixers in any way, shape, or form. It seems to bringing more out of the woodwork.

It *does* seem that there are a few pieces that are much rarer than others out there. TNT: Are you 100% sure your random algorithm is working properly?

I've suggested this before ... and I will suggest it here again (with a twist). Make the *single WC pieces* UNTRADABLE. Then the hoarders have nothing to actually HOARD! Seems simple enough, right? That way, you can make pieces go directly into the puzzle, and there is no pulling hair out trying to complete the map.

Now, let's say people want to trade their map pieces. I realize that is pat of the system you want to put into place, TNT. Instead of letting people trade single pieces ... make them trade FULL MAPS. That way, the hoarders cannot target certain pieces, making them more or less valuable. The only tradeable commodity is a Full Map. (I could imagine a new link from a full map that allows you to put it into the trading post ... or offer it on another trade.)

Would this take some coding? Yes. Would it fix the problems you are trying to address? Yes. Would it make WC'ers happy .... I think it would be a good start.

So instead of getting individual map pieces, you would fill up your gallery, and completing your picture would put into your inventory a single item 'Neopia Central WC1' or something like that. This item would have 'convert' in it's drop down menu, but would also be tradeable. When you completed your 3rd picture, it would activate a link to clear your WC gallery. Something like that?

They didn't do that to stop hoarders! They just used that as an excuse when they introduced 'straight to inventory'. I can't see how anyone would think it would stop hoarding in any way. Especially TNT, who have been working with this for years.

So, what is the real reason behind this? This first change, followed by some that make it harder to earn pieces, make me think that they just did this to make it harder to get the picture prizes. Which should drive the price of the pieces up, but so far it's had the opposite effect - so what do I know?

And what's the deal with the WC high score lists? ugh. Why is my 'all-time' high score lower than my 'monthly' high score?

Ok my rankings for the month are 4th in monthly and 5th in all time. Now watch them come out with an avatar if you place in 3rd in a World Challenge. Now that would be my luck to miss it by one.

Still wish they would rotate all the games not just some of them.

I've been trying, really. I understand that things change and TNT has their reasons. But I bascially have given up on the WC. I'm just too frustrated.

There's so few games in general for each world now. And of those few they are either getting no one entering or 30 people! Between that and the pieces going to inventory, meaning getting doubles, triples or in my case actually 4 of the same piece after doing my best, it's just not worth the time and effort. And trying to trade a piece for one you need is next to impossible, at least for me. Also doesn't seem worth it to have to spend 20k or more for missing pieces when you can end up with 2k and a codestone.

They really need to just put the darn thing back the way it was. All games available, pieces go into our map, not our inventory.

The changes have not stopped cheating, it's not stopped the whole "teams" of people playing (which I was actually unaware of), it's not stopped anything this change was intended to do. It seems to have mainly stopped most of us who are primarily gamers from having a chance to earn our pieces and either sell (one of the few ways a gamer can actually make some half-decent np at one time) or convert our maps.

The way it was set up it still was taking me about 2 weeks to complete a map for a world I was half decent at (only 2 can I even earn pieces from). They're games, they're not supposed to be "work"! I am very disappointed with TNT for keeping these latest changes, especially when so many of us are turning away from the WC and that it hasn't had the desired effect of stopping cheating/hoarding but actually encouraged it.

You and me both Ever. I refuse to play WC anymore untill they take it back to the way it was (two screw ups ago) or find a truely good solution.

This is the 1st of the month, and this guy already has 6 wins on a game that only allows you 3 wins a day.

Username Total Wins | Type of Win | Winning Position | Number of Wins
gajigaji - prizes 6 | Score Totals | 2 1
| Tally 3 3
| Tally 4 2
