Does this block the bottom ad?

IE wont block it, but its less adverts to screw around with o_o

No and Yes. The Adblock blocks anything you tell it to block. So far, the IE thing only does the top ads. If anybody knows how to edit the .css to block the bottom ones, please post.

Please stop quoting the big old thing, it's starting to make my eyes sore!

This is insane. I'm slowly loosing my interest now in NP from these ads. They clog up my download time on each page, and they make the site even slower. If anything it's going to cost them more bandwidth to have those ads.

If you have adblock, just right-click the ad and select adblock from the options...

Sat Feb 12, 2005 12:27 am

If you've got adblock on Firefox or whatever, if you right-click the add and click 'block i-frame', the bottom adds will be blocked.

I'm upset at them. WHY would they need to put up this ugly add so soon after the big top banner? They're just getting greedy now! I could understand a normal-sized banner at the bottom, but not an ugly one like this.

# Banner Update - You may have noticed a new banner at the bottom of some pages. Please bear with us during this experimental phase as we are trying to do what is best for the site. With that in mind, these new banners should not make the page load any slower for you and are placed at the bottom of the page so you can browse the site as normal. Rest assured no banners will appear on your userlookups!

They're here to stay. :(

Translation: Banner Update- You may have noticed yet ANOTHER huge honking unwanted banner on this site which you all knew to be banner-free at one point. Please bear with us as we begin the desensitization process on you until you are able to mentally accept the site looking like the side of a Nascar racer. With that in mind, we want to drain as much as this site's value though use of extensive un-needed advertising before it hits the dot-com graveyard. As a gesture of our "generousity" to you little money-making drones, we have provided you no banner on your lookup...which we wish for you to feel grateful for, even though that is nothing new and you never had a banner there before in the past.

Val, you never cease to make me laugh  Also, add that on the front page there isn't one and only NeoRelated banners apear. That way any potential adverisers won't think our site is cluttered with classmates.com adds.

Val, and for this you paid how much??????? If I was a premium user, I'd be throwing a flaming evil coconut or two at someone wearing a "I work for Neopets" T-shirt!

I'm paying $69.99 a year.

But no need for coconuts now, they just removed the ads off of premium.

But I do find it VERY INTERSTING, as just when they are about to let premium launch to the public (and give them the chance to pay for no ads too) they released a NEW ad to give everyone a "gentle push" to pay for playing...

Okay....it was more a a kick in the tush with a steel-toed boot than a gentle push...but you see what I'm hinting at, yes? 0:)

Thank God for adblock.

Have you seen just how many boards there are on the NeoBoards complaining? I think this is a message to the staff that they've gone way too far this time.

Edit: Thanks, Val. I was going into withdrawal XP

Unless you're cheap like me and just use Firefox. XD **bricked by people responsible for the adds** oww...

I still can't believe they did that... they kept apologizing for the last one, then not even a year later they dump this monster on us. They must think they're not going to lose a lot of users for this - and they're right. -.- What people do quit won't be that much of a difference.

Edit - Err.. rats. They've appeared on me again and I can't get rid of 'em! ._.';

And to those of you who missed my huge debate saying I belived Doug was trying to use "pump and dump" technique on neo when the first banner ads appear, I invite you all to reread what I wrote then...

It will make even more sense now. ;) (it's about the 5th post down in this page):

I'm telling you, my hunch is that this is a deliberate killing off of the site. ;) He's bleeding it dry, and taking the profit for other ventures.
