The Daily Dare has returned to Neopets!

Play various games against AAA and Abigail throughout the month of March to earn daily prizes, and the chance for a grand prize at the end of the month.

Daily Dare Rules wrote:
* Before choosing your Daily Dare challenge, you might want to practice the game a few times. Once you select a Challenge, your choice cannot be changed.
* Once you feel confident in your skills, choose the score of either AAA or Abigail as the one that you would like to try to beat. To make your selection, click the link under the picture of either AAA or Abigail.
* Once your score has topped that of your selected challenger, send your score and come back to the Daily Dare page to collect your prize!
* Even if you decide to take on AAA's score and come up short, you will automatically be credited for a win over Abigail if the score you send is higher than hers. However, when doing this, you will not receive either AAA or Abigail's daily prize for this game.
* Not only could your participation play a role in freeing AAA and Abigail, but there are additional prizes for true gamers!
o The Ultimate Prize - Beat AAA's score on the launch day of all the games.
o Uberiffic - Beat all of Abigail's scores or a combination of AAA's and Abigail's scores on the launch day of every game.
o Megasuperb - Beat AAA's scores for all of the games by the end of the Daily Dare.
o Spifftastic - Beat all of Abigail's scores or a combination of AAA's and Abigail's scores for all of the games by the end of the Daily Dare.

I think if you hit the ice cream while you're still moving upward, the helmet works, but if you're coming back down, the shield protects you. In DoM, I guess since they didn't give you the shield yet they weren't going to penalize you for not being able to shield yourself.

I just tried that -- I was definitely going up (and definitely had the helmet on) and still died -- but it was a super-jump. I guess the moral is, don't super-jump and try to block a scoop at the same time! Thanks, though -- your theory works for regular jumps.

You can only have one tool active at a time, so wouldn't you be unprotected through most of the start of a super-jump?

Yes, that's true. I was trying to jump to where the cones were high overhead, so I was able to reactivate the helmet in time (or at least it appeared before I hit the cone) -- but the game is kind of weird, so maybe it registers after it appears. Either way, I won't try it that way again.

Gaaah, completed! Thought I'd never get through the last part.

Horrible horrible game... welcome back to 80s game design. Parts 1 and 2 you cant even loose game in unless you go afk, just something to make you spend more time on the game.

Something good... destruct-o-match level was nicely done with exploding and mineable blocks.

Thanks for mentioning the link of green shield and green pet and orange helm/pet, that finally clicked in my head and I got through the last part (with a suitable random map naturally).

This game is sooooo ARRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's the best way I can describe it  I've finally beaten the ICM level (once) but the SS level...? BAH! You obsessively hit "b" for the DoM level, obsessively hit "n" for the ICM level, but what about this one? It's a bit hard to wrap your mind around, really. And those dang spikes! I don't like having to use all of the buttons :/ My best is 4200. I hope I can finish it before 2am my time (12 NST). Preferably way before, I've got an early class!

Never want to see that (Dungeon Dash) again. Never. Even more so than Gummy Dice. That game irritated me like none other. But. I beat it, with AAA. After probably 3 1/2 hours of practicing. :x

Not sure if these were these tips have been posted, and since I'm too lazy to look back through last thread, I'll put 'em here anyways:

For AAA, on the turmac roll part, when you hit the taller hills, spring jump at the top, and use the bubble to roll the rest of the way.
In fact, if you're worried about timing on any level, since the spring jump takes so long, use the bubble to shorten it. IE, spring jump, and as you hit the crest of your jump, bubble roll out - it takes away a little of the "recovery" slowness.

For the last one, I remembered it easiest as Skeith=shield. {shrugs} I do better with sound matching than colors in a pinch.
And I was almost constantly hitting the bubble in the last round - if I wasn't hitting the shield or hat, I had the bubble going. That's the only way I made it through all those dratted spikes.

Also, even if you're aiming to beat it with AAA, it helps if you practice with Abi, at least until you can reasonably get through the ICM part. Once you can do that, start using AAA instead. For some reason, this helped me improve quicker.

Well, that's it. I give up. I don't know what to do. I've switched browsers, updated Firefox, updated Flash, cleared my cache, refreshed the game, relaunched the game, refreshed the page and THEN relaunched the game, and it STILL freezes right before the final level. I have not even SEEN this level yet, not a SINGLE TIME.

I cannot tell you how mad I am - mad isn't the word, but if I use the more accurate ones I'll probably get banned - that despite my hard work, despite trying and playing and getting really good at this game, and knowing full well that I could probably beat it and win the challenge, that none of it matters and I'll still probably miss out on whatever the final prize is just because of a stupid glitch in the game that probably won't even be noticed until the end of the week, when it's too late. :x :x

And that's a shame, because I almost always love playing Daily Dare, and this month was no exception. I hate it that a single game is now ruining a month's worth of fun.

EDIT: And yes, before anyone asks, I DID submit a bug report. Fat lot of good it will do, but whatever.

I feel for you! I gave up too. Can't even submit a bug report, since it gives no spot to put in my email on the form it's showing for me, even though I *know* it should be there. When I click submit, it says I must include a valid email address. I even went through the form tabbing to see if there were any hidden boxes, etc. So even if they resolve the ones that submitted reports, mine won't be one of them.

You beat it on AAA with only 3.5 hours of practicing? I've played at least 5 hours today (probably more like 7, but I was doing other stuff in between, so it's hard to say), and I still can't even consistently get to the last level on Abi. Ah, well. Tomorrow is another day. I guess I'll have Meepit v. Feepit to help me practice my letter-combo skills. Hopefully I'll wake up and find Dungeon Dash a tad easier tomorrow.

Rakumel, have you tried restarting your computer? Are you on dial-up or something? Maybe try logging out of Neopets, then logging back in? It's weird that so many are having major problems with the game when it works okay for so many others -- I don't know if it's a server issue or a connection issue... I hope you can figure it out!

Considering that on Sundays, I have a total of 5 hours of free time (and that's split into a 2 hour break and then up to 3 hours, depending on when my last rehearsal ends)....I'm miffed cause it meant I only had an hour and a half left over. And I'm really tired now.

Does anyone still need tips for the actual Ice Cream Machine game?

Edit: Random thought: what happens if you REJECT Roothless's challenge? o_O Not that I want anyone who intends on beating it to do so - in case it removes your chance of ever playing the game. I'm just wondering if anyone has done so on purpose or by accident so far.

I'm on DSL, the connection's working fine. That's not the issue. I've also logged in and out of Neopets numerous times, with no change. I haven't completely shut down my computer yet, but I have a feeling that that won't do it either (but I'll try it anyway, because you just never know). =\

I'm almost 90% sure that the problem is with the game and browser and/or OS compatibility. I'm on an iMac running Firefox; most Neopets players seem to have Windows + IE. Dunno, I'm not really an expert on this. In any case, I've done pretty much all I can do and I've thrown my little hissy fit, so...well, no use being upset anymore I guess. Just gotta go to bed and hope the issue's resolved sometime tomorrow, and maybe even that there's a small time extension (just a day, maybe) for those of us who were having problems.

Thanks for the suggestions, though. :)

I personally use windows+Firefox, which works fine.
But for kicks, we tested it on our Linux (Ubuntu) machine with Firefox: it ran into the same problem you were experiencing. So I think it might indeed be a compatibility issue - probably having to do with the version of Firefox available to Macs/Linux/Unix.
Hopefully they'll have it fixed up by tomorrow! {crosses fingers}

OH WHAT THE HELL. THAT WAS NOT FAIR. I reached the end of the ICM level, with my shield up because a cone was right at my body, and then when it said "press any key to continue," so I pressed "n" (like, presspresspresspress...) and the shield was GONE when the new level started, and that same stupid cone that I was shielding against killed me. SO. NOT. FAIR.

I hate this game, it has way too many bugs. I've gotten to level 5 only 3 times (4 if the above scenario counts). I'm going to bed, I really really really really hope they give us tomorrow to play it too. I'm megasuperb so hopefully it won't hurt me. :(

Thanks for the cookies :) I'll save half for the TNT if they fix this for us!!

I'm running safari on Mac. I did a full restart etc and nothing is helping.
