I dislike them too. Their design is just way too goofy, it looks as if parts of different Neopets have been thrown into one creation in any way, with little concern to the final outcome, and the art doesn't really fit in with the rest of the site either. They also are lacking in redraws and recolours to make them a species I would warm to.

I'm iffy on them. When I first saw them I absolutely hated them. I think they just looked like such an odd combination of features. Now that I've seen them more, they aren't so bad. Hopefully they'll get more colors soon! If they were painted something I like, I wouldn't hesitate to get one.

I really dislike 'em. They just seem so... dumb? I mean, I don't want to knock anybody else's likes, but really, it looks like a kid tried to put together a bunch of different puzzles into once.
Stripes? Sports? Mohawks? They're just so... silly.
Plus, I have to agree... they seem ignored by TNT most of the time. And there's certainly not a lot of good redraws for 'em.

I think Ogrins are awesome! I love how detailed they are. What a lot of people seem to dislike about them, I love. I love that they're very different from other neopets. I love that they're not simple, plain and boring like so many of the older pets. I find most overly simple pets boring and uncreative (the notable exception is Kacheeks, I love them, but we're not talking about Kacheeks here *tries not to get side tracked*). I love how they seem to be a mix of lots of different creatures. At first glance they look like hoofed animals, but they're not, they have those cute, huge paws! Their funky Mohawk like mane, and their weird ears make them cute. I like pets that don't immediately make you think of a real animal. You can't say for sure what they are based on. Like, you look at an Ixi and immediately think "that's a goat!" Kougras are obviously tigers, Cybunnies are rabbits, etc. But what's an Ogrin? It's not anything but an Ogrin! It's unique.

When I first started playing neopets, I remember browsing though all the pets, trying to decide on what to make my first pet. I was very tempted to make an Ogrin. That little animation with the one getting his head stuck in flower really sold me on them. But in the end I didn't get one. (I had to get my favorite, which is an Eyrie) Now I don't have room for one in my plans, but maybe someday I will have an Ogrin, especially if they get some cool colors. They really need to get some attention and more colors!

While Ogrins aren't my favorite pet, I like them enough to own one. I personally thought the initial reaction to Ogrins when they first came out (which seemed to be mostly "OH DEAR GOD!! WHAT is that THING?!! *barf* ) was way too harsh. And I have to admit, part of the reason I like Ogrins is due to sympathy. Poor guys need some redraw colors, or some creative takes on colorfills. I'm going to be very disappointed if they come out with a striped or skunk Ogrin and it's not a zebra. The Electric one could've been a bit better too, especially after seeing that one in the background TNT released not too long ago. That bg kind of inspired me to tinker with the existing Electric, which is on the left. My recolor's on the right.




Anyway, the design of the pet itself probably could've used a little more tweaking prior to release, but it didn't make me want to gouge out my eyes or anything. The facial expressions on it are cute, especially the sad and angry ones.

Speaking of which, I'm glad Officer posted this topic, because I made this the other day but never got a chance to use it.

I never really got the sense that they were a mish-mash of different pets. They seem totally unique, but I think they fit together pretty well, not as if they were made up of random parts.

Thank you, everyone, for contributing. I'm sorry to say that now that I have a better idea of what my week looks like, I probably won't get around to writing the article. But it was still incredibly interesting to read your comments on the matter. Perhaps another Ogrin fan could put this poll to good use. >_>

If TNT released a super cool colour of the Ogrin, I may like it! Although in that case I will only like that particular colour of the Ogrin. But still it's a like!

In all honesty, I really think ogrins are my least favorite pet. Even older pets that are seriously outdated (like the flotsam) at least have a chance of being redrawn.

On the flipside, I hate kyriis as well, but then royal kyriis were released and I was shocked to find that I LOVED it. Now I own a royal kyrii!

So I'll stay open-minded about the ogrin - maybe one day TNT will do a redraw color for them that totally blows my mind. ^__^
