The scammers are just unbelievable, aren't they? I agree that it's not the kind of "skill" anyone should be learning. The people doing this type of thing, if they are children, I can only wonder how proud their parents would be to learn their child is using their brainpower to figure out how to steal...

Great movie with a fabulous twist! Haven't seen that in ages.

Quite right, no one should be learning to scam at all. I wish I could think of some good suggestions about the general problem, because it's been bothering me for a while. This latest trick just disturbs me a great deal because I can see why people who normally avoid scams might fall into the trap.

Yesterday, I said that the easiest solution would be to just not allow people to post urls in the forum. Duh, that was stupid.

The easiest solution would be to give us the "Oops, it appears you've been directed here from the wrong page" if we're link to an auction that is automatically bid on.

I never heard of that scam, but thanks for warning us, we'll pay more attention to the links people are sending...

Thanks again! <3

Clever. Easy to fix too (just make the form postable, rather than through GET requests).

I think TNT will be able to get a fix out by Monday at the latest.

Geez, we always have to be one step ahead of these scammers--sometimes I think they do it just to see if they can get away with it. Like high-fiving each other and all when they figure out a new one.

I hope their consciences eat them alive.

EDIT: Amd once again, thank you, PPT, for being here for us to share our knowledge. Without you, I'd be in a vacuum.

oy....scams like these are even more despicable... you click, your in, that's all there is to it. And it's also something that could pop up in six months again once you forgot about your first time, so techies and newbies are equally likely.

Please do not swallow the mattresses.

Maybe they need to add a little pop-up like in the user shops when you click on an item to buy it. That way, you wouldn't just end up bidding on something you don't want or is way overpriced. You could just click No or Cancel to stop the bidding process.

I know, that would make things difficult in the last few seconds of an active auction, but it might help stop people trying to scam?

That scam wouldn't work unless you let it. You'd have to have that amount of NP on you at the time and leave it as NP on hand through the time when the auction is closed and processed in order for it to actually go through. If you don't have enough NP on hand, it goes to the next person down. -.0

There is no good or bad side, just two sides holding different views.

Actually, that's not how auctions work now. It takes the np and puts it "on hold" as soon as you bid, and you only get it back if you're outbid.
