I want to get the secret avatar the Alien Vending Machine, but is it a waste of money to put your nerkmid into the machine? What do you get out of it? I have a Basic Golden Nerkmid that is worth 80k, that I got from a random event, but I don't know if I should sell it, save it, or use it for the avatar ...

Most of the time, you win gross food (worth less than 100np usually) or a bottled faerie (worth around 4k)

About 1/10 of the time you get another nerkmid. (The one you used is gone, though.)

And very rarely - maybe 1/30 - you can get a random paint brush.

My numbers are off, but this may give you a general idea of what you can win.

Doing nerkmids is usually only worth it if you use a lot of them. If you use one, don't depend on it to get you a paint brush, because you probabaly won't.

Basically, it's spending NP for the avatar. Getting a good prize would just be a pleasant bonus.

Back when Nerkmids were way less expensive, I used about 40 of them. I was young and stupid, okay? I wound up with 3 paintbrushes, 10 faeries, and a lot of gross food. I didn't even recoup my losses. (Though, paintbrushes were worth comparatively less back then.)

Bottom line: you should only do it if the avatar is worth as much as the Nerkmid to you.

I still need that avatar, but I'm not going to go out and spend that much money. Unless it was my 200th avatar - I'm planning on doing something special for that one.

If I get a RE with a Nerkmid, sure I'll use it, but otherwise I'm too cheap

You can also get a hefty amount of neopoints from it-- I got 30000 once.

I'm still not sure if I want to try it or not, because it would only be a waste of neopoints if I didn't sell it, hm ...

You can also get a trophy if you win enough from it, although that's pretty hard unless it's the beginning of the month. Unless you really want the avatar or the trophy to show off, I'd recommend selling it. (It cost me about 450,000 in nerkmids to get a silver trophy on the first of the month.)
