I was taking a bath last night, when suddenly… “EUREKA!” I ran hysterically, bare-naked. NOT! I just recalled this unreleased Cookie Caption Image, which is supposed to be released on a Wednesday randomly dedicated to cookies, I guess. So I was thinking, maybe this whole “cookie-grabbing conspiracy” was just another “inside joke” from The Neopets Team (TNT). Come on guys; don’t tell me you still don’t know TNT’s way of “humor”. Well, April Fool’s is not until the first of that month. But, well, they don’t need to wait until April Fool’s. Remember that supposedly Lost Desert Plot “ending”? That “Nabile-saves-the-day” Chapter? Almost everybody hated that “ending”. Well, except for the Space Faerie – I saw here being hooked to it, and oh my, she really wept a lot! She even dressed like Nabile! (Sssh… Don’t tell anyone!) And remember those scroll thingies? TNT themselves made fake accounts just to show up the names of some of these scrolls. So, maybe all these accounts that were “unfairly frozen” during the “cookie-grabbing conspiracy” were all just made up by TNT. If not, maybe they intentionally froze them for being off-topic (Yeah, posting messages about Kaos all over the Battledome Board! Like duh!). Whatever it is, if this is just another “inside joke”, it’s not funny, TNT! Not a nice one!

Or maybe TNT just wanna teach us a lesson, telling us that their security is secure enough. (Errr… Forgive me for being redundant)

Anyway, I’m still not convinced that this “Justin Kelly” that was arrested (see http://www.sachitechcops.org/case2.htm) is the “Kaos” with the cookie grabber. First of all, Kaos IS a girl, isn’t she? I’m still sticking to my theory that this is just a “joke” by TNT. Besides, if there really is a real-life scammer “Kaos” with a cookie grabber, TNT could have traced her location, and arrested her immediately. (Grabs the book entitled “The Knowledge: The Incredible Internet” by Michael Cox) (Turns to pages 118 & 119) There is a way to trace anyone’s location, believe me!

Ok, that’s all I can say for now. Enough of this cookie-grabbing conspiracy!

(End of Message) 8)

Cookie grabbing isn't really something that should be joked about. TNT has a sense of humor, but that sort of thing would be going too far and just...wrong. I seriously doubt TNT had a hand in anything. What would be the point?

Kaos is not a girl, TNT doesn't freeze accounts as a joke, and that webpage you linked to was last modified in 2003. I think that's all that needs to be said.

Why would Neopets not allow people to view common pages of their site to teach people security? If they wanted to teach people security, then they could put a virus download prompt up. Not that they would or anything, but still. I think you get my point.

All it proved was how their security is sorely lacking.

I seriously don't think it's a joke, they must have known how user confidence will be shaken badly. And that is bad news for any service provider. I also don't think they want their sponsors to think that they are so disrespectful of their user and their own security system. All-in-all, they should know better than to pull a daft stunt like this, because they know it will cost them money. And sadly, Neopets seems to be all about the money these days.

I DO recall that TNT was on the boards as users during the plot claiming to get certain scrolls in REs and posted them for trade.

However, this seems very VERY different.

Ummm...people have lost their accounts, people have gone to lookups, viewed the source and SEEN the cookie grabbers. The filters on the neoboards were dropped temporarily, allowing topics contain the F word to circulate for a while. This isn't a big joke, this is exploitation by security holes. There's a difference between leaving red herrings in a plot and creating havoc that's caused a lot of people to quit/have their accounts taken etc.

Neopets is a business above all, pranks don't come before keeping clients.

Ok then... Forgive me, people. This WAS just my "theory". As I said, maybe, just MAYBE. Don't be too harsh on me. Ok, ok, it's not a joke anymore.

Yup, that's what I guessed so. It's just an old news archive.

Ok, so people, please do forgive me if I offended anyone, especially those of you who lost their accounts. Maybe most of you got angry at me for posting my opinion. But as I said, this was just a theory. And that's it. Now, I'm convinced that it's not really a joke. Let's just hope all of this ends. As of now, just stay away from customizable pages, especially from those whom you do not know. That's all I can say as an advice. I won't argue with you guys.

I don't think TNT would freeze innocent accounts for a joke. TNT do have a sense of humor but that's going too far.

I did find it a bit ironic that we have cookie grabbers, then cookie pets. Bad timing on TNT's part
