Beggers Come Here

Sun Nov 21, 2004 6:03 pm

I've been on Neopets for over 3 years. I lost my account last spring and decided to take a break from Neopets for the summer. My new account is 2 months old and here are my accomplishments so far in 2 months:

1. Got into the Secret Lab (560k)
2. Used The Vending Machine (55k)
3. Currently have 35k in the bank.
4. Have a Guild with 36 Members (No contests (they're illegal incase you didn't know))

This goes to show how easy Neopets can be if you really try. I know so many others will agree with me. It's just that we play to get more NP, more Battledome wins, and so on. So I just don't understand beggers... o_O

in one word theyre LAZY!

Exactly!!

hehe congrats to you!:) I think maybe i can help you understand beggers a little though, in one word theyre LAZY! If you or I see something we want, we work hard to achieve it and take pride in getting it by ourselves, if a 'begger' see's something they want they cant be bothered to earn it themselves so they resort to getting other people to do the work for them. Sad but oh so true. :(

I got frozen about a month ago. My new account has the 1 month shield. I currently have 6 trophies and 3 limited editon pets. I am master level of at least 5 games. The big thing is that I have over 300K in the bank. I am debating on spending the cash for the lab ray again. I mostly zapped pets for others to adopt.

Don't get down if you are not too rich. All you need is a little effort in the right direction! Begging for anything material is just lazy (not to mention rude).

Asking for advice is just fine!

IF you want np so badly, theres a really helpful link for you to get LOTS of neopoints in between world and explore!

I have the full lab map, and 280K, and 53 Avatars in 2 weeks after my account was frozen :D you don't NEED to beg with stuff like that!

Beggars are just plain lazy!!!

You try being a university student with 15 hours of classes, including three lab courses, one of which has two 3-hr labs a week, and a foriegn language to boot.

I don't beg though, I just stay poor.

My point is that not all poor neopians are lazy, some of us just have priorities beyond a silly game...

It's really all a matter of how much time you can devote to playing games, and how good you are at them and a little bit of luck, and budgeting. I'm poor right now because I'm just spending my np to buy things like furniture and items for my gallery account. o.0

Exactly. I get so tired of seeing people begging for NP/items and complaining that they can't restock.

Two words:
PLAY. GAMES.

And no complaining that you're bad at them. You don't have to excel at games to make a decent amount of NP. I used to make at least 30k a day on games alone when I was on dial-up.
I retested my theory one night a month or so ago, and I made 40k in roughly 5 hours, and I didn't even get all the way through the Action section. If I'd continued, and then gone on to the Puzzle section, I could have made so much more.
Sponser games give loads, and then there are good staples like Dubloon Disaster and Volcano Run. It's been even easier in the last week being able to send scores 5 times instead of three. Even if you only make 200 np per go, that still adds up to 1k if you play 5 times. None of it sounds like a lot, but it all adds up.

Also, as far as restocking is concerned, you can still make a small amount of profit from it even if you don't get any massive finds. I used to restock when I was on dial-up. Sometimes I only made 30np profit per item, but it was still something.

Omg, I've been playing for 5 years now, but I was frozen unfairly last Spring. I took a break from Neopets for a year and I started a new account 3 mon ths ago. I have accomplished:

Lab Ray: WAS NOT CHEAP!!
Illusen Quest 35: Don't ask how much was it.
F&I Blade: This was just expensive.

Beggers, don't beg. TRY for once. :<

I think a lot of you are forgetting a big difference between people with frozen accounts that make new ones and newbies...newbies don't have Neopets figured out yet. I'm still new to neopets, and I've had to work my tail off to get the money for the lab map (one piece to go!). A lot of things I just didn't know the tricks to/about, such as restocking, Whack-a-Kass advice, Advent calendar, etc. I agree that people shouldn't beg, but I think it might be hard for people who have been playing for 3 years or so to remember what it's like to be absolutely new. Although, you all do give good advice, and have helped me a lot! :D

Although beggers can be annoying, instead of getting frustrated with them, we should help them, too. There are some things that might seem common sense to one person, but another might not know about it. I usually give suggestions to beggers how to earn neopoints.

It is very easy to earn neopoints by gaming. That's what I do and it funds all my giveaways. I'm not rich, but I can get by. As a return for being good at gaming (after playing the site for almost 5 years lol), I'll hold a giveaway every month to give back to the community, gift friends, and help new players.

The sad thing is, because of that, some people think I have a lot and ask for more after they've been gifted or hound me if I don't give quick enough or the gift wasn't as expensive/the right thing as they were hoping for. The ungreatfulness of some people just amazes me. O.o

It's also unfortunate when someone holds a giveaway, I sign up, and then they refuse to gift me because I must be "rich" because I always hold my own giveaways. :(

Ok, I agree with earlier posts about not getting angry at newbies for begging. I do remember what it was like to be brand new to the site and not have a clue how to spend my np wisely or make more (my first week, I wasted a whole whack of np on clothing before I realized that we can't dress our pets. >.<). When a newbie asks me for help, I'm usually more than happy to give it to them, unless I can tell from their lookup that they've obviously played the site before.

But when a seasoned player neomails me asking for stuff, it really irks me. Every couple of days, I open up Quick Stock and donate all my TYS/Shrine/Tombola/Fruit Machine/etc booby prizes. Occasionally I'll get a neomail a few minutes later from someone asking me to give them more stuff. Most often it irritates me because I don't like it when random strangers bug me for stuff, but sometimes I do end up giving that person a little something extra. Today I got such a neomail from a user who's been playing for 17 months. Nearly a year and a half! Gah! It just frustrates me, because I feel people with accounts that old should know better! If you've been around Neo that long, you should know how to earn things yourself. Needless to say, I didn't even respond (I CERTAINLY didn't give them anything!) though I was itching to write them a very scathing neomail in return. *grumble*

I'm taking 21 hours this semester, and I work 2 jobs. This is also the wealthiest I have ever been on Neo.

You don't need to spend hours a day on the game to earn money, necessarily. Just know the right way to use your time. :)

25 hours a week in class, and probably another 10-15 working on projects. And i've made over a Mill in the past five months, by playing games and being lucky.
But i've also been playing neo for four years, and I know where to go to get things, and what games i'm best at.

Not all beggars are bad, some are genuinely needing help.
I don't get begged at very often, but I did recently, and the person was a seven month old player who then got completely slammed by me.
I have no pitty for old players who get by on begging.
Players who've been on for less then three months, they'll get my sympathy. It takes awhile to sink into the game.
*shrugs*

Well, obviously there is a difference between really new people and those who, no matter how long they've been playing, can't be bothered working for their own things/np.

For me, when I was new, I stumbled around, made alot of mistakes, but anything I got I earned on my own. I didn't even go to the boards for I'd say my first 6 months. And even if I had gone to them I certainly wouldn't have been asking people for things, though I would have asked for help on what to do and not to do. Maybe I wouldn't have fallen for a fake log in page

Beggers are, at the least, annoying. Yes I will offer help and advice to newer members. But I've found alot of those people never bothered with the tutorial when they signed up. That can be a help that gets overlooked.

So no, I don't give people things or np, I tell them (nicely) to try the games room and tell them some of the easier games I play to gain np. I also advise them to open a bank account, tell them where to go for their daily omelette, things like that. I also keep my neomail to friends only and block nf requests. That way I don't get the begger neomails I used to get that would make me so :x
