Lab Ray

Thu Nov 18, 2004 6:26 pm

I hear about a lot of people adopting pets from the pound, zapping them with the ray until they are a cool color and then putting them back in the pound for someone else to adopt.

My question is, is this against the rules?

I am saving for the lab ray and would love to give other people an opportunity to have a cool pet. But I don't want to get frozen for it.

no, a lot of people do it and I can't see why it would be against the rules. It gives pets with horrible names or unpopualr pets a chance to be adopted so that they don't stay in the pound forever, I've done it for over a year now and haven't even been warned.

Thanks, I think thats what i'll do then!

I usualy give members in my guild a heads up whenever I do that but I say there is always a good chance they probably won't get it but whatever :)

I'm looking to do the same thing. Getting close to having enough nps for the map...when is a good time to put pets back into the pound? Is color the most important thing, or do strength and such statistics matter more?

My guess would be color matters more, cause atats can be earned for free.

But don't you have to pay for stats on a normal basis at the academy/training school (with codestones or dubaloons)? The only days they give free training are on Neopets' birthday and the pet day.

well if you're really into gaining stats then yes but coltzans shrine will increase stats for free as will faerie Quests (not really free but some are pretty cheap)

It depends on who you talk to. If you go over to IDB, stats are far more important. That's because they battle. Here, other's might say that the color matters more because people aren't as concerned with battling their pets.

Stats are far from free for the most part, yes you can get some from quests and cotazan, but that is not a very reliable way to train your pet. Training a pet is very expensive, you need codstones or dubloons and once your pet is beyond certain levels, you can't use those anymore. After that you have to rely on the lab and neggs for increases.

I don't recomend labbing a pet for stats unless they are your pet and you intend to keep them. Labbing for stats is a long process that could take years because of the inconsistancy of the ray.

If you are labbing pets to give away, do it for a color change. If the stats improve on the way to making the pet a cool color, then all the better. :)

Also, While doing this you have to remeber that it might take a while to make the pet better, so be patient. It took me about a month to get my pet a robot, and to reverse all the bad effects that happened to it while getting to the robot stage...

I think that is a good idea but we have to remember that b/c the ray map pieces are so expensive not everyone can do this. But if only even half the ppl do this, I bet that the pound will be reduced drastically.

I'm so excited! one more piece left to get! and of course it's the more expensive of them all. I'll have it tomorrow! Then ZAP!
