How true.. sadly..

I'm sorry about your accounts, though. :(

...and that differs from all the other kid's sites out there HOW? I've been to cartoon network dot com. Neopets was so sucessful BECAUSE of the submersive advertising.

Sadly I think many of the games and sites today deal with this...at least the majority of the ones I go to seem to be like that...

Yes I see a lot of advertising and keeping track of what the users do, but the site is free, after all, and all of the people who do the programming and the fixing and the designing and the help for ..is it over a million now?... a million users, costs money. The money has to come from somewhere, better have a few ads on the pages than charge to play.

Also, I feel that people should be allowed to make money if they are enterprising enough.

Yeah, I know that, but what about all that merchandise they sell? The TCGs, plushies, magazines, lollypops, t-shirts, and tons of other things? They make tens of millions of dollares each year.

Well, first off, he bought the site shortly after it was made, which was in Nov. 1999, not 1998 as you said, so it's not like we ever really experienced Neopet's without his influence.

Immerse advertising is so much better than paying a monthly fee.

And they take so long to unfreeze people because... well, you can take your pick for this answer. The site is big, lots of users, it's hard to investigate the reason, etc.

This topics are so old and annoying now. It seems like every 2 weeks we have some person having this big revelation that Neopets is too commercial. It's a business. Like all businesses, it IS concerned with money (which, they don't even have much of. Do you know how expensive it is to keep up a site like this? Adam and Donna aren't living in mansions. They probably live in apparentments. With lots of cats.)

How much could the equipment cost? 200,000? What's that compared to the overrall income they make?

Ahahahaha! Yes, you keep thinking that.

And Neopets is one of them.

No doubt they are making money from the merchandise, but do you have any proof on the profits they are making out of it?

And personally, I prefer immersive advertising compared to "IN YO FACE POP-UP BOO-YEAH!!!" advertising. But maybe its just me. At least TNT manages to keep the site fun for all these years. That's more than what could be said for countless other websites.

But what about that new advert banner they have? I call that in your face
<hr>My point is that they don't care about their members anymore. As long as they keep getting them. They don't care if more than half of them are frozen or inactive. As long as they are still in their databases.

SNak Edit: Please remember to NOT double post. If you have something to add and you are the last poster, use the "EDIT" button in the top right corner of your post. Thanks.

The banners are easily ignored. I barely ever look at the banners, ever, whether they be Neopets related or not. When I'm switching pages, it's not like I'm concerned about "Oh, what banner is up there now". They are a lot better than pop-ups, or, as already said, pay-to-play.

tons of sites have banners like that one...plus, many of the "ads" are for neopets games. it is not all commercial ads

I do like the new sidebars that came with it...makes the game more interesting

and Xtinct831, remember this...if you don't like what is being done, you can always leave ;)

Well you're right, they don't care if they are inactive.

Over half of them frozen? That's greatly exaggerated.

And it's not about who's in their databases, it's about how many pageviews they get.

And, though I am no mod, I'm just going to advise you to stop double posting. It'll get you in trouble.
