I was gonna add this as a poll, but since I can't do polls here, just post your answers I guess. I've been frozen for letting my mom play on my account. Unlike most people who ask to be unfrozen, I was actually guilty of something against the rules. Basically, it says that having someone play games for you is illegal in the wall of shame. I didn't know this however. I knew about the no cheating rule, but letting her play one game seemed about as bad to me as looking at a hint guide (which have been in the Neopian Times), either way you're using someone else's knowledge to earn you NP. Who here thinks I should have just been warned for this, and who thinks I got what I deserved?

Nah, i don't think you should of been frozen for that...
but what really strikes me is how they know your mum was playing the game? It could easily have been you : /

She was playing at work, while I was playing at home.

If it was at the same time, you at least deserved a warning..

I don't think ANYBODY should be frozen. If you scammed, I think you should be fined AND offer compensation to the person you scammed. If you spam, maybe a temporary ban and a BIG RED "SPAMMER" on your User Lookup! I think potty mouths should be banned temporarily or permanently from the boards. How about, if you do wrong, you lose previleges. Kinda like when you try cheating at haggling a shop keeper and he tells you not to come back for awhile.
I can see Tombola guy flexing his pecks and telling you that you cannot play!

Urthdigger, in this particular case, I don't think you should have been frozen. I believe? that newer written (may have been an "unwritten" before) rule is because people who aren't good at certain games were asking their friends to log in and play those games so they could get the game avatars (or high score or both). That is cheating.
This sounds like your mom liking one game and playing it as kind of a "stress buster" at lunch. Unfortunately, I don't know that TNT will see it that way - a rule is a rule is a rule, you know?
The only thing I could suggest is either have your mom open her own account just to play games, or tell her to just go to the site and play the game without signing up or logging in. She wouldn't get a score or np, but she could play the game for the fun of it that way -- which I can't imagine would break any rules.
I don't know, you could try writing in, and have your mom write in too - fully explain the situation, the people involved, what game and where it was played from, etc.
As to how they would know? Either 2 people were logged in at the same time (which really shouldn't be allowable ever) and both were active on the site (like both playing games, or mom playing that game while you were rs'ing or something) or the IP addresses were read. If you're on high speed at home at she is at her office it's my understanding that the IP address is static, so easier to tell what's coming from where.

wow i didn't even know that was against the rules. i think you should fight it. (politely)

The reason I opened this thread is that, yes she plays it at work to ease the boredom, but I suggested she play on my account, so I am sorta guilty. Even if I do get my account, both she and I agreed she shouldn't play on my account again. I'll write in soon.
I am fighting it, I've been sending emails, I'm writing up a letter, and I'm posting here and hoping someone sees it

I don't think you should be frozen, just a warning. I personally didn't know that was illegal. ^^;; You can only play a game 3 times a day, so who cares if it's being done on a different computer? I fail to see the logic.
Hey, it's not MY fault my friends like Mynci Beach Vollyball! I-I-I mean, ummm... yeah, Mynci Beach Vollyball, I play that game ALL the time. Well OF COURSE myfriendwhodoesn'tfeellikegettingherownaccount doesn't play it on mine!

Fight for it!!!:D
Personally I think they only brought that rule out to protect people against scammers who would offer to play a game for you and then steal your account. I would think that its ok for a family member to play a game, I shared an account with my young daughter for about a year and we both played games on it. Do your best to get your account back and if you do, then get your mum her own account to play with to be on the safe side!:P

Well, I got a reply from Darcy
Darcy wrote:Hello,
Thanks for your inquiry. Your account has been frozen for cheating. This is strictly against the terms and conditions that you agreed upon when you created your account. You can review our terms and policies here:

http://www.neopets.com/chatrules.phtml. Because you have violated our terms and conditions we cannot return your account, Neopets, items or anything else contained within that account.

Does this seem like an auto-reply, or does it seem like they're telling me I'm up a creek without a paddle?

This is where the hard part comes in. It's a hidden fact in the T&C, but part of it, meaning, as Darcy said, they won't return things that you lost because you broke that rule in the T&C. This seems like a C&P kind of letter, but I'm sure it has been read.
I would continue fighting. Just make sure you clarify you didn't ask your mom to
send the score on games. That's all I can think you could do... sorry, I'll keep my eye on this thread.

Heh, I don't think I should have been frozen even if I had told her to earn my NP and stuff. I will keep fighting. I may be up a creek without a paddle, but I still got my arms right?

Yeah, that deserves a warning, not a trip to iceland. I would still fight - try and fit in there that you should have gotten a warning
Really - the rule was listed on the Wall of Shame. There is
no, no needs in the T&C to read it, meaning you can read if you want. Meaning, they should put that on the
Terms and Conditions instead of the Wall of Shame.

Though I do think your freezing was overly harsh, I don't agree to your comparison. Letting someone else play games for you isn't like looking at a hint guide at all. Everyone knows that earning NP with games isn't something for which you only need some knowledge, you need lots of time and effort for it. Letting your mom play means you got NP without putting the effort in it. If you look at a hint guide you still need to make the effort to make NP. So I think it is in fact cheating. But a warning or a temporary ban would be a better punishment
