He is actually named after the very long extinct plesiosaurus, the marine reptile. Although I consider plesio more along the lines of a fish. Anyway it's a little fun fact for you xD

Does anyone have any other tidbits on how Neopets get their names? I love learning things like this.

Neo has lots of little shall we say....sources, for their names not only of Neopets themselves but items as well.

Pan Galactic Gargle Slushie, as I'm sure most people would know by now, takes it's name from Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster (a slightly lethal and brain deadening drink) from the oh so wonderfully written book that no traveler should be without The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

That's the only one coming to mind right now, except for Gelert being named after a real General. Oh, and there is the Dandelion and Burdock Drink which is a real soda drink in Europe and there about and maybe other places lol

That's all I can think of for the moment.

Nice to see you around too Enigma!

I highly recommend the five part trilogy lol

and I remember where I got my Gelert General thing

The name Gelert is after a famous hero who died for his owner

it's on the basic Gelert pet page lol

A dog can still be a hero :-p

The old dog killed a wolf that tried to kill his owner's baby... Got blood on the baby, the dog, and the wolf's body ended up in a dark corner. Master comes home and thinks the dog tried to kill the baby, and therefor kill the dog... sad story really.

I didn't realise Generals were owned. :roflol:

*shrugs* The story was made up by a guy in the 1830s to attract people to come to his land and visit the 'grave' of gelert.
But it's a good story none the less.

*should illustrate it*
