Premium Perks...?

Mon Oct 25, 2004 10:01 pm

As we all know, there are things that the premium neopets users have access to/can get that us non-premium (aka--the poor) have.

What I'd be curious to know is whether any premium members have been frozen, or ever will be. Since they paid for the membership, will TNT take it away?

What bothers me the most is that TNT has been adamant about premium members NOT having any special treatment. I wonder how long that will last.

Any thoughts?

I believe I've heard one person who had premium but got frozen, but I'm not positive. o_O

I've heard the same. I think it was someone here on the forums who said their premium account was frozen, but it could've equally been someone on the neoboards who mentioned it.

Yes, you can still get frozen even if you are a premium player.

Anyway, what's wrong with paying players getting special treatment?

Because it then makes the game unfair. And, Neopets bends over backwards in stating how fair the game is and how you can't do this or that or the other because, by doing so, you would have an unfair advantage over the other players.

I think, though, that if you care enough to get premium, you're less likely to do something against the rules.

There are a lot of pay-to-play games out there, particularly mmorpgs, that you still find plenty of cheaters and "hackers" in. Infact, I think it's safe to say that they exsist in all games.

They play for a different reason than normal people. They either take pride in making other people miserable by hacking accounts, crashing servers and the like, or by playing to be the best no matter how many rules they break. Even if they get caught, they'll pay to open new accounts. It's just a game to them, but far different than the one you might pay to play..

If a premium player was frozen, would he/she get the money back for the month or something? Or would it be gone forever? What if they were frozen fo something like, talking about the myster pic or whatever.

Well what would the point in paying be then? Would you pay to have a premium account just to go on normal life with the added addition of a portal? I think it's great that they are doing this. It means that they can rely less on sponsors and such. Besides, most sites offer free accounts and paid accounts. Paid accounts always have more features and cool things.

Here is what i'm trying to get to. You can agree or disagree with me but this is just my opinion on it.

In the real world you have people on different incomes right? As long as those people earnt them legally you can't really judge whether this inequality is fair or unfair because everyone is 'playing' under the same rules. But, if you break the rules to earn your income then it becomes unfair because you are doing what other people are not suppose to do.

The same goes for Neopets. There are people richer than others, but remember everyone started off with the same neopoints. It's just a matter of how you choose to make your neopoints. TNT only goes on about 'unfairness' when people do things against the rules. Eg, using multiple accounts to gain freebies that were originally intended for one person's account per day.

Get what i'm trying to say?

1. I think Neo introduced premmy because then, we wont see many more items like juicy fruit or games like hillary duff or something.

2. Neo is kinda going back on its word sorta...
They said it would be free, it is, but you have to pay for cooler stuff
They said no to this and no to that just to be fair, now premmies would probably have more advantages.

Unless you just get a title or something and continue with your normal neopian lives, but I dont think anyone would get premmy then.

While I think the small perks on premium are certainly interesting and a bit fun, I wouldn't call it "cooler stuff". I hardly do anything on premium really except play Hannah and the Ice Caves. Personally I see paying for premium as paying for extra chips on a chocolate chip cookie or extra cheese on the nachos. While it makes it slightly better, the "extra" really isn't necessary to have the full enjoyment of the site.

i'm just hoping eventually us premium players will not be subject to the hideous top banner anymore. i mean, we already paid, why are we being visually assaulted by advertisments? :P
