Why, oh why do I visit Neo on the weekends, even when I know that's when the site gets the most traffic and things are most likely to go wrong?? Gah!!
I was transferring all my valuables out of my shop and into my inventory, and vice versa, when suddenly everything disappeared. This has happened before, I know, and I've never gotten too stressed about it until now. The reason? I HAD A BABY PAINT BRUSH I WAS SAFEKEEPING!! Gah!! It took me AGES to save up for that! *facepalm*
I filled out a bug report and everything, but I don't really expect TNT will do anything about it. They never do. *sigh* Now it's going to be another 6 months before my poor Zalphe can be painted Baby. *sob*
Anyway, just putting out the warning, it looks like the site might be glitching again. Everyone might want to exercise caution when moving important stuff around.
*crawls into a corner and dies*

-hands you a tissue-
How did it happen? Were you using quick stock?
Sat Sep 18, 2004 11:15 pm
*turns it to soggy mush*
Yes, as well as taking items out of my shop manually. But because I'm impatient and don't like to wait for the page to keep reloading every time I click the little X, I usually go down the column clicking as many as I can before it loads so I can move items faster. It's never given me a problem before, but I'm wondering if that's what messed me up this time.

Oh Erin
*hands you some more tissues*
Weekends are just ARGH and have been for so long now, it's hard to remember when they weren't glitch central.
I've never taken things out of my shop fast, the way you do. Maybe because I'm on dial up and things just take longer. I just sit and wait for the page to refresh, then go to inventory to make sure whatever I've taken out is there - then move whereever.
Of course, it could be the quickstock, it could be that you clicked too fast or it just could be another weekend neo disappointment.
I am so sorry.

*nod* I know, I dunno what was going through my head. *kicks herself*
*sigh* I'll just have to keep my chin up and try again. It's disappointing as heck, but not the end of the world.
I think I'll stay off Neo the rest of the day though.

I don't think it was because you clicked all the x's at one time .. I've done that many times, and nothing's happened.
Quickstock has given me issues before. Do you think you could have accidentally clicked 'donate'?
Sun Sep 19, 2004 2:42 am
*shakes head* No, I know I didn't. I think it was probably that same Quick Stock glitch that's troubled people in the past.

I once lost a Dragoyle to a glitch like that- I totally feel your pain!!
*hugs*
We all go through stuff like this though, and we all survive. Hope you're feeling better and are well on your way to re-saving for your pb!

Do you think you might have put too many items in your inventory? I know they started sending out warnings about that due to the kadoaterie.
Sun Sep 19, 2004 2:20 pm
No, Erin is right. It was a glitch--plain and simple--that took her pb away. No accidentally donating, no having too many items in inventory, no forgetfulness.
How do I know this? Because, as any of the old PPTers may remember, I (as well as others) have experienced numerous lost item glitches just like Erin's in the past year. And, because just now I got hit with two glitches minutes apart from each other.

First, I tried to buy a super icy negg for 700 nps in someone's shop and lost the negg and the nps. Then, I tried to take a poisonous lollypop out of my SDB and lost it also.
Luckily, this is the first time that I actually didn't lose anything of super importance. Basically, I only lost the potential I could have made on reselling the negg. The lollypop was going to the money tree anyway. And the shop that had the super icy negg also had a purple one for 700 nps--which I can resell.
I wrote Neopets both times about the glitches and suggested that they take down the site until they figure out the problem and, once again, suggested that they change their policy of no compensation for lost items due to the glitches. I mentioned that because I was too afraid that another glitch would get me, I would not be playing anymore today and, therefore, both Neopets and their sponsors would be losing the ad revenue for those several hours that I would have spent playing the game.

That is quite a logical and reasonable suggestion, but do you seriously think TNT cares about losing
your business? They have tons of other players to support them, and it is unlikely they will change their policy for the loss of an individual's playtime.

I think people should stay away from Neopets on the weekends, only Newbies should be allowed on weekends. They could be doing their dailies.

join the club. or the guild. we should make one like that.
No really, we should. maybe that would get Neopet's attention?

>< Nothing short of a 15-year-old genius hacker would get TNT's attention.

That's not the point. The point is to bring it to their attention--over and over and over and over--until it strikes a spark in someone's little brain. If they hear it enough from enough people, maybe they will decide to take a different approach to the game.
And, the number of people who would even think of playing Neopets is not infinite--so eventually they will reach a peak and then decline (if they haven't already)--which has happened with every new sensation before them and will happen with every new sensation after them. Sooner or later, there will be more people quitting than new people joining. And, sooner or later, Neopets' execs might actually realize that and try to keep people from leaving.
After all, it is pretty clear that they have obviously lost people since all of the glitches that occurred around the McD's promotion--otherwise, we'd be hearing every other day about how they broke more pageview records. And, gee, I haven't heard anything like that in a few months. So, obviously, they don't have the number of people playing that they had a few months ago--or else, they would be sure to shove it in our faces. Which means, people are leaving. If they don't want people to leave, they will put measures into place to keep people from leaving--such as compensating for losses. Anyone who has had a business class in their lifetime would realize that.
