I just went to my email account and for two days in a row at approximately the same time, someone has put in a request for lost password on one of my accounts.
The account has virtually nothing on it-- it doesn't have a shop, trades or auctions. But it has a great name and a really nice plushie painted pet. I am sure that the die hard PPTers will remember a few weeks back when old accounts were deleted and we were able to get "cool" names--this is one of those cool names.
Should I be as freaked out as I am? Or does this happen to others? This has never happened on any of my other accounts--and, I don't mean to brag, but I have millions of nps in plushies in my plushie gallery--if anything was a target, I would think that would be the account to target.
I just wonder if it is someone who likes the name or this crazy thought: The person who had the name originally went to Mickey D's and got a Happy Meal and said, "Gee, I used to have a Neopets account. Maybe I should play Neopets again."
Please someone alleviate my fears before I start changing my password every day.

Ummm.... I think that I would be freaked out too. Maybe not too freaked out though, because you said that you don't have hardly any NP on that account.

I would just change my password once to something really hard, then change the email address the pass is sent to.

I still am freaked out, despite the lack of nps. I can't quite explain it--it's like a feeling of having something safe and secure invaded. Like the act itself is a violation--I want to say to the person "How dare you even try to get my account?"
I guess I am getting a teeny tiny taste of how those people who were hacked back in April must have felt.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.
I don't quite change my password every day, but if that had started happening to me, I probably would. I've worked several jobs handling very confidential information, and am used to thinking up gobbledy-gook for passwords and still remembering them.

That hapens to me smetims, usually when I have ben posting a lot of the message boards.
I would change the password to your email account, or redirect your emil to somewhere else.
I don't think you should b tht worried, I can defintely imagine that McD's scenario happening, it sounds like something I might do

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You might change your email address and password anyway, just to be overly sure, but like N3O said: your chances of having the person get your pass are slim to none.

Same thing happened to me... Bck then when old accounts were deleted, I created the account called plushie. I got tons of neomails of people telling me that was their dream account name, but I replied to everyone telling i'm not giving it away.
Then I got a few password retreval emails, all regarding my plushie account.
The thing is that it got frozen a few days later,... which I thought all recreated accounts did, so I wonder why yours wasn't.
Anyway, You said you have a plushie pet on the account right? So that makes it a target... Just some newbie pressing on buttons that he thinks will give him a password.

Thanks everyone--you are right--my password is really difficult to figure out, so I am sure I have nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case, actually. The person could have come back, tried to log into their old account and failed, then figured they must have forgotten the password and tried to get it sent to them. It would obviously get sent to you instead, they'd wonder why they never received it and try again, etc.

well, some is trying to get your account!

Wait, your accountwasn't frozen? I belive they were all frozen, all the ones made after they were deleted (the old accounts). A plushie pet, good name, even without a shop that's something anyone would want. But don't worry, someone typing your username (maybe even not looking at the account) doesn't mean they're in the email.
