The pound has closed and now pets are fostered at random!

A RE pops up and a pet is automatically given to you.


You have been volunteered to foster a Neopet, (PET NAME HERE!) Make sure they get plenty of love and attention, and don't forget to feed them! If you would like to learn more about how the fostering program came about please visit the pound.

While browsing through Neopia you will get a RE that gives you a neopet to foster for the day.
The only care you can give the pet is food.

You can foster more than 1 pet. At the moment I have 2 3 4 fosters!!

You can have more than 4 foster pets, the pets start piling up underneath the others.

The Neopian Pound


The Pound is closed until further notice. Dr Death is retiring! While a replacement has not been found yet, candidate applications for the position of Pound Director are currently being accepted from influential Neopets.

The Pound is no longer accepting abandonments. We have launched a program to foster out Neopets currently in the system during this transitional period. You may be volunteered to take in some of these Neopets if your username is selected. The Pound Council trusts that Neopians who are given foster Neopets will take charge of their care and feeding.

I now have 5 foster pets. I will go broke feeding them all!! LOL.

Anyone doing a pound transfer when this happened is going to be ticked (but TNT will feel no sympathy since the transfer system exists).

Not bad for an April Fools' Joke this year, though I really liked the interactive ones -- we can't feed each other's fosters?

My first pop-up happened just after I'd visited the lab ray, while I was in front of the petpet lab ray being chided for being an irresponsible owner.

The pets can't keep away from me, I now have 6 12 foster pets. (Didn't even see one of those pop in).

You can feed them (although some on the boards are saying they can't), but that seems all you can do. The foster pets don't gain you anything extra for the 1st of the month freebies. Drat!!

Apparently I'm not being picked much for fostering. I've only managed to pick up one so far. I filled the poor guy up with gross foods I could find for 1np each, and brought him up to delighted again, just because.

I am trying for trophies so I am very active and have a lot of page refreshes today.

I was also refreshing quite a bit at the Money Tree and I have been active on the boards.

Pet #13 just showed up!! LOL

Ach, ye think runnin' a Pound's hard? Try extractin' treasure from a pirate sometime. Those Neopets are all squiffy little whiners. I'll have 'em whipped into shape with work gangs. They want food to eat? They can earn it sewin' loot bags and hoistin' cannonballs from one yard to another. Good times are comin' to the Pound!

It is with no small degree of satisfaction that I put my name forward for the position of Pound Director. I have studied prison colonies over the centuries -- long nights make for good reading -- and I believe the key to the discipline problem is to remove excess sanguine humour in the system. Quite simply, a vampire is ideal for the job.

Oh, honey! Don't you look just adorable there, trying to decide who to pick for the Pound? The first thing I'm going to do once I'm in charge is abolish that word -- Pound. That's right! You guys are lucky; I still only have one! Any fosters I get will get their lookups bookmarked to be run through my lab ray after this is over-- it takes a while, but one by one the lab tends to turn them into something pretty.
