Less food, more weapons!

Sun Aug 01, 2004 7:57 am

Sankaras Mansion's thread gave me an idea

Why, instead of constantly adding new foods and (shudder) promo items, don't we just get TNT to make more creature weapons for the BD? Not only would it add even more individuallity to the creatures, but it would also stop this flood of food that, when it comes right down to the nitty gritty, isn't all that important. I'm sure about 1% of Neopians actually use the food to feed their pets... others mostly just sell them for Quests and what not. And why shouldn't they? You can get five free bites daily (an Omellette and a Jelly). The Healing Springs usually fills up your pet, and even after that there's a soup kitchen.

But weapons... there's something else. Give us some more generator items, or widen the vast array of snowballs. Givs us some Kougra Power Jaws or a Buzz Poison Stinger. Add in effects to the Battledome... like being "poisoned" or "asleep."

Granted, you have to stick to what you know, and I'm sure that TNT know their food merchandise well, but nothing ventured, ntohing gained, right? Yes, they've been working on a new plot and a new Neopet, but I still say that less time on food and more time on enhancing the battledome experience would be much more productive and lucrative.

...besides, we all know how sick and tired we all are of promo items... wouldn't it be much more fun to have, like, a Chia blow a Bubble Yum bubble bomb of doom? ;)

Add plushies to that list--less plushies and more of anything but plushies. I collect them and I swear that they add almost one new one every day. Hard to take a step forward in completing my gallery when I am constantly taking five steps back.

Personally, I think they need to either drastically reduce the price of weapons from the two main BD shops, or retire a lot of stuff. There are three reasons stuff rots in those two places:

1. Because cheaters get most of the good items as soon as they are stocked, using auto-buyers.

2. Everything is majorly overpriced.

3. Most of the weapons and armor sold in those shops are obsolete. You can get better stuff from quests or the Trading Post.

A LOT of the species equipment needs to be retired or upgraded.

Add more Rod of Supernova level weapons, and less crap like Plastic Butter Knives.

*edit: I agree with Morningstar wholeheartedly about less plushies. I once started a plushie gallery when it was reasonably possible to do one without having to spend a fortune and have a size 100 shop, and ended up giving up on the idea. (I'm still trying to sell off most of my gallery items, in fact) Wouldn't mind seeing more Magical plushies, but they need to quit doing normal plushies. Frankly, I'm surprised they haven't done an Asparagus plushie or Adam plushie, yet.*

Just to prove a point,I'm not sick of promo things. Not everyone dislikes them.

But I will agree the battledome needs some work. :) And they need to stop making cheap useless items,I agree on that too.

I would like to see more pet colors and species... But not just fill in color, colors where the pets are drawn different, like royal.

Sleeptyping aren't we, Morningstar? ;)

*gasp* Possible to dissagree with you?!

Never.

Alright, maybe I'm a bit harsh on the ads... but you have to admit, doesn't it kind of spoil the affect a bit?

The paintbrush idea is a good one too, I think. It'd be cool to not only change colors and position, but to have like wings or horns or nine arms or something. I'd like to make my neopets unique, but paintbrushes are way too expensive (whimper)

And plushies are cool, but making them in fifty-six and a half different colors each is most likely what's clouting the collections

I'd like to see some of the colors redone.

Split = ugh. Like the concept, but not the orange and purple colors. Couldn't they at least fix it so that different pets have different color splits, instead of them all being orange and purple?

Disco = the old hypnotic pattern design looked better. The current design should be called `LSD Paisley', NOT disco.

Invisible = Why they didn't scrap this along with Glass and Disco, I'll never know.

And I'd like to see Electric Shoyrus and Yurbles, even though the Paint Brush is retired.

(Wonder if we'll have to wait until October for the Halloween Yurble?)

It'd be cool to have some colors that use Flash software... something like Glitter or Sparkle, or maybe Wavy or Illusion

Ooh... how cool would that be? The Illusion Paint Brush

NeoPets is a cabler's game. One can only advance by buying items at a low price from computer-automated shops and reselling them at exponentially high prices.

56kers can advance at a disgustingly slow pace by playing games everyday. I myself only have time to play 3 or 4 different ones 3 times each and am still experimenting to see which ones I can play best.

Plushie Tycoon is a very good game, because if you are dedicated enough you can win prizes even a cabler would find satisfying. You need not a fast connection, nor do you need the hand-eye coordination and reflexes video games require.

I believe more games similar to Plushie Tycoon should exist and provide more opportunity for non-restockers. Perhaps the amount of NeoPoints earned per game played could be heightened, too?

Yea, they definitely need to redo the invisible... Not... er... invisible enough?

(Actually I love the disco pets :D )

Raising the amount of neopoints earned might cause inflation... though I agree with Neopets being a Cabler's domain. I actually sometimes go to the library where they have cable, just so I can spend an hour of snagging things from the Money Tree and restocking.

i think the current distribution of item type is alright. actually only abt 5% of the item in neopia saw frequent use. the rest just goes into galleries or personal hoards. you want more weapon but these weapons would also have to be good enough to find their way into players' battle set or end up as collectibles as well. i understand the mentality that weapons are more attractive than food but i guess it's the usefulness of the item that most of us are more interested in. for example, food are not so boring if new ones have chances of altering your pet's stats, species or colour. as for collectibles such as stamps, plushies, coins and petpets, i actually welcome neopets adding more rare ones. it adds to the challenge of completing your collection.
