Too Many Items?

Sun Aug 01, 2004 7:29 am

Is there really a point to introducing sooo much of the same thing each and every day?

Food doesn't really have a point if you can simply go to the omlette or jelly pile whenever your pet isn't bloated. Most people aren't anywhere near the top of the gourmet food list, so introducing new 90+ rarity foods would be somewhat futile. Um...maybe the more common food is just there to make gourmet foods look better in comparison?

Books are fine, but the gourmet food comment applies here, too. Battledome items are fun, but it'd be much better if you earned NP for winning in 1-player mode.

Games are things cablers do when Neopets is down or they're bored, only once or twice a month. 56kers only get to play around 3 or 4 different games a day. Some other types of items are released at such a high rate that it's hard to keep up.

I think they should slow down on item production, with an exception of new worlds and pets. It'd allow more time and employees for NeoSchool and plot production, which I think we all want.

Edit: Maybe we could permanently keep that blasted Pteri away, too.

Especially the items that are promos... they have the McDonald's Dollar Menu for items! And Bubble Yum? Gah. But yes, I agree... instead of inventing new foods every single day, why not give the foods a more crucial role, or work on new creature weapons or something?

Ooh... creature weapons... I think I just started myself a thread...

I agree. 100%. I have nothing else you say cause you said it perfectly!

I really think 1-species only weapons in the main BD shop should be moved to a separate shop, because they took up so much space.

I live in a tiny rural town in the Sierra mountains in Northern California (hence my user name!), and we only have access to dial-up. The fastest connection any of us can get is 28.8k baud. Because of this horrid rate, restocking is out of the question, so I rely on games and the Stock Market for my NPs. I'm able to earn about 15,000 NPs per day just by playing games. The slow connection really doesn't affect slow modems very much. The only long part is downloading the flash game, but that only takes a minute at most.

Vever thaught of it, but yes, lots of food is pointless when we have the cheap omelettes and jellies!

ok maybe it is just me - but does anyone actually feed their neopets the other foods unless they are going for the gourmet ?

I do. I tend to spoil the heck out of my pets although I always "pay retail" and restock the foods instead of buying them from usershops.

I really love when they release new foods and toys. It gives the site so much variety.

I agree that there are too many items--way too many plushies. There have been over 300 (not counting the magicals) released in the past 365 days.

But, part of the reason I liked the site so much when I first started was the large variety of things on it. Think of it--maybe you aren't a rich person in real life, but you can have really nice furniture for your neohome. Or you are a collectibles freak--that's where the plushies and gallery collections come in. You wouldn't be able to afford all this in real life, but you can try doing so on Neo. Or, you are overweight or have to watch your weight or are a chocoholic--on Neo, you can have all the food and chocolate you want without gaining any weight.

Adding a few new items here and there is nice. However, they are doing a great job of overkill.

I feed my pets the cheapest food I can--all of those burnt and damaged foods you can get from Coltzan's Shrine and brown sauce. Often, you can find them for 1 np on the wiz. I resell the omelettes. I know I am a real cheapskate--but, I spoil my pets in other ways. With PBs, really nice petpets, and a ton of plushies.

Excuse me... but some of us play games for fun as well... we even have guilds...

And I personally have no problem with lots of food...

I've done that for about the past 2 years now. But on holidays my pets are spoilt and they stay at home and I feed them real food and lots of chocolate. :) I'm a loser-yes. I feed my pets turkey on Thanksgiving and give them lots of chocolate and cookies the day before x-mas. o__o;

Oh, that is so sweet, Fallen Tear. You aren't a loser at all! Every day, I brush my pets's hair and wash them up with a bar of soap. It's called having a vivid imagination.

New items (books, foods, etc) are usually only released on Pet days or Wednesday random theme days.

And I think that if they stopped doing all that, Neopets would be boring and people would complain more than they are now. I'd rather wait a longer period of time for a plot while still getting cool things throughout the wait as opposed to waiting a less longer period of time for a plot and geting nothing throughout the wait. That's just me though.
