You might have noticed that the links to pages 1, 2, 3 etc of the boards are gone.

A solution to the board list issue.

If your looking at the board list and want to go to page two, you add "&next=40" after the URL. For page two, you add 40 more. So page two would be "&next=80".

I hadn't noticed any problems and I still don't notice any problems.
However, the tip you have given is good... because it also helps if you have weird parental controls on your computer that block things that shouldn't be blocked. XD
A friend of mine had some blocker block the word 'guys' o_o So he couldn't read a lot of the board pages.
But he learned that if he changed that number to something after the post that had the word guys on the page, he'd be fine.

I doubt most blockers are that psycho, but I thought I'd share that XD
