I personally feel that the Battledome is in desperate need of a revamp. It's rather unattractive, and quite dull to play. Does anyone else share the belief that it could do with a much-needed update?
Discuss.

No, I am strongly against a BD update. After using it for years, we are all comfortable with how it works. Updating it would complicate guild wars (most of you probably don't know what those are), 1P tournaments, etc.

Yes, the look of the page is trapped somewhere years ago...perhaps keep the usability the same, but update the graphics.

The actual battledome system being revamped would throw absolutely everything about it to hell, and a lot of players would probably quit. Update the graphics and get rid of the terrible looking table? YES. Add your weapons to the art of your customized pets? NO. Except for maybe only when you actually use the weapon, so it's not giving anything away.
But knowing TNT lately they'd make it in Flash, so I'm going to have to go with "No, don't change a thing"

For years I wanted a battledome update, but having seen TNT's recent attempts at updating 'out of date' pages (quick ref eg) I'm definitely going to say no.

I think it definitely should.
- It has remained unchanged since its introduction years ago.
- It need to implement new ideas and evolve with technological improvements to stay ahead of the competitive gaming market.
- Subeta is programming a better battledome system which goes beyond the click and do damage.
- Let's face it... it was fun when it was introduced but how is it keeping the elite players?

We should learn not to decide against the Battledome, just because we're used to it. It doesn't make it a good system - for example, I'd love to be able to battle Neopets or creatures, and earn Neopoints considering on the skill difference. EG; If I had a level 3 pet, with low stats, and I beat the Meerca Henchmen, I would receive a lot of Neopoints, and maybe a stat increase.
Just an idea.

What exactly do you suggest should change? Good system or not, the economy of codestones, dubloons, faeries and weapons have adjusted to the system. Changing it dramatically would cause it to collapse, ending in years of wasted time/money for many.
As for rewards, elite battlers in general are already the richest players. Giving np after each battle would make inflation explode. Example: featheralley has won over 76000 1p battles. Lt's say she got 1000 per win. Uhm, 76million, not even accounting for 2p, is a bit much, yes?
Stat points given randomly but rarely? Maybe. Leaning towards no, but maybe. Money? No.

You have a good point - but I still think there should be some kind of reward system for fighting on the Battledome - there's really no need to play, once you've completed defenders of Neopia.
Well, for starters - the graphics are really outdated - I'd love to see more animated/interactive aspects to it.

What I would like to see is the implementation of all of the ideas that TNT already has.
-Petpets assisting in battle
-Levels for abilities and weapons actually doing something
Definitely updated art... Going to the Battledome pages scares me slightly.

I see nothing wrong with old art, personally. And considering how I've disliked nearly all of the changes they've ever done, I'd rather they left it alone. Things get glitchy when they start messing with stuff.
That being said, I think it would be great if ability levels did something.

I'm all for the old "BD style" staying intact.

It's not like TNT has done anything "good" for the BD in a while...
No weapons have been released in a long time, BD challengers haven't been released in a while, etc.
A BD update would only further complicate things, or ruin the entire system

i like the old BD style, especially since I get to see the old art again, but it runs so slowly.......it really does need an update.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!
C'mon, there haven't been any new mechanics in the Battledome in years. Change things, TNT! Give my inner spade something to do! (Not to mention how happy it'd make my inner club.)

It's not like stats, abilities, and weapons would suddenly stop being useful. Regardless of how they change how the BD works, it's still battling. Those things will still matter, and the economy's not going to suffer too much. New interest in the updated BD would raise the prices of faeries, codestones, and weapons.
As for rewards for wins, I doubt anything would apply retroactively--for the reasons you pointed out, it just doesn't make sense. If they just implemented it, nobody'd be able to rest on their laurels and get millions. (And 1k per battle is a bit much, ne? Maybe 100np would be more reasonable, or perhaps a sliding scale.)
