Fri Jul 23, 2004 4:23 am

I thought my music link was the problem. Apparently not:

yeah, more restrictions although i can understand that they are trying to eliminate all source for scamming...too much trouble to decorate a shop nowadays , if you ask me. i would just leave it undecorated.

I had mine all Inuyasha-fied, lol.. I'm throwing all my old pack rat av items in there, and realized there was no music. Ah, well. Took longer to load, anyway.

Actually that's not a new rule. Technically speaking it's always been against the rules to have clickable outside links, but it wasn't being enforced. But then, as usual, the few bad eggs had to ruin it for everyone else with their fake log in pages, scam/cg sites, etc.

It's been months (can't remember just how long, but I know it was still winter) since you've been allowed to link to anything outside the site. It really impacted guilds, including the one I'm in. We had spent so much time on our guild web, and then bye bye hyperlink...we ended up just taking the web down, especially with the enforcing of the no contest of any kind rule.

Well, it's new to me. I check my shop every couple weeks or so, and last time everything worked fine. I don't understand why midi's should be affected, though, since you're not showing a link in your shop, simply hotlinking from another site. Bleh.

Unless the site is banned for some reason (like g-petz was for awhile), the hotlinking is fine. I make my own backgrounds, banners, etc. and have no problem using the img src, body background, etc. codes.

It's the a href= that's giving you the problem. Even if there's nothing showing up on your shop front or lookup or petpage, it's reading that there's still a direct link to an outside site.

Like, I had a basic html help page on a petpage and showed how to make links, etc., but didn't use a real url, just typed something like http :// www . your url as an example and I got that darned New Rule page. And I'm not linking anything to anywhere! Obviously that petpage needs a total revamp now...Bleh.

So, if you can use music from that site without the a href, just type in saying where you got your music, background, etc. so you're giving credit, you might be able to use that music. I don't know, I've heard some music code changes have been made, but I never have music in my shop.

Well you wanna hear something funny, everconfused?! My blog in my shop is hotlinked from GPetz, and I've never had a problem with it. The midi came from another site completely, and it was banned. TNT makes alot of sense sometimes... </sarcasm>

Maybe this has something to do with the extremely graphic porn I saw on a guild's main page a few weekends ago. It sat there for an hour before the guild was disabled and guild owner frozen. And some stupid person posted its name on the chat boards so every one and his uncle got a look-see. This was when the McD's promo was in full swing, so my guess is lots of angry parents reported it.

More Rules? Again?
Aw....
They want to protect neopets from any scams, but I hope it will stay O.K, and that they won't exagerate.
Anyow..

Ah well, I guess it's for the best of Neopets :)

OK, I cropped this and it looks icky, I know -- I did it really fast, I can't stay online for long, big storm is coming.

But I read the original screenie and from what I can see, you apparently got the new rule on the hyperlink - having a direct (or indirect - no clicky link on your shop front) linkback to an outside site. Which is not allowed anywhere.

It may not necessarily be the site you used for your music. Unless they have changed the type of music file you're allowed to use or if that site for some reason is banned -- then of course you won't be able to use anything from that site. I do know for awhile anyone who had anything from g-petz had blank lookups, shop backgrounds, blogs, etc. and the url said something like Site Disallowed instead of g-petz. I am glad that got worked out for all the people who do use that site.

For some reason, if you don't have an a href = in your url/music code TNT is reading your code as a hyperlink.

So, basically, the code that's getting you that page is < a href = "http: // members.rogers.com /cewillert/ music/ default. html " > do you have a little thing on your shop front giving credit? < /a > -- at least that's what TNT's filters seem to be seeing. Using the < img src = " url " > you should have no problem with.

I don't know what the full code you tried to use for your music is, but I'm sure you know alot better than me what codes/formats are correct for that. I don't know, maybe look to see if there is an a href or an /a that you didn't notice before?

I use Photobucket for my lookups, etc. and have never had a problem, nor has anyone who uses my lookups or backgrounds with getting a New Rule page. Unless of course the code is wrong. I've done that so many times, added or left one little > or something out. Then I get that New Rule page.
