This is exceptionally sneaky and underhanded of them, I must say.
There is now a new Yahoo! ad box at the bottom of every page. If you try to block the associated sources, you get this error:
Error! showLinks3 links undefined
In a popup box.
At least they're just text links, and they don't seem to be slowing down pageloading, but still, I'm pretty peeved that after all of the talk about how it's OK to block third-party ads, they've now created a system that thwarts blockers. And the only way to bypass the popup is to disable javascript, which is a freezable offense because there's a JS popup for buying items in shops.
I'm on the border of apoplexy.

Ah they must have just done that cause I was getting that message... I'm a new firefox user so had no clue what it was at first lol

Is there a way to just shut off the popup?

Arrgggg is that what it is?
I thought it was some kind of error.
Oh that's pure evil. Evil beyond belief.
Does anybody know exactly what is causing it so I can (as much as it burns me to do so) un-block it? As annoying as ads are, this infernal pop up is worse.
I didn't add any new stuff to adblock recently, so it must be something they added to an already existing ad. (oy, too many ad*s in that sentence XD )

Oh well that's just great. The joys of javascript. All the possibilities ...
I do hope they contacted the ad company hosting that pesky virus.

It still boggles my mind that there are so many restrictions put on what we can or cannot talk about on the site, and yet sometimes the ads are so much worse. Do I want a date with sexy latino singles tonight? Um, no thanks TNT. I don't think I'd mind the ads so much if they were all for new movies and cereal and such...low interest rate loans and dating things I find really annoying.

Ugh. Why do they think that with a greater number of ads there is a greater chance someone might click on those ads? I mean, I'll never click them, I don't care how many of them there are, are if they talk to me, or flash, or sing a little song or whatever. Why do they keep adding more, when it is obvious we are just not interested?

Since they earn money from having the ad there?

I would think they would get more for hosting sponsor games then the ads. I totally understood when they said they needed the ad's but they have done what i feared they would and just started accepting ANYONE. I mean common TARGET your audience if you are going to put up ad's. Toys, food, movies, fun places to go. All fine! But you're not a dating site why would you put that up there. We don't need financial advice or many of the other things i've seen. I now have fire fox and use ad block because i just no longer care none of the ads where targeted as they should have been.
So maybe i'll just live with the pop up I dont know.
**Edit**
I don't seem to have the pop up anymore. Maybe TNT already fixed the issue whatever it was?

I'm also not seeing anything. I thought it was because stuff that I've done in Firefox blocked everything at the bottom, but it might just be gone, which would be good.
If it comes back, use shift+ctrl+B to open adblockable elements? Maybe we can block the ad from there.

I was waiting for them to add a div class and/or id tag, so it can be blocked.. All I get now is an "ADVERTISEMENT" at the bottom. Easily blocked though if you're using Firefox w/ AdBlock Plus. Just add this filter.
- Code:
#div(ad_wrapper_fixed)
Should be fine, I'm back to normal viewing.

That was worth adding Adblock plus. I shutter to think of visiting neopets using IE.

You can just modify your stylesheet to the following:
- Code:
div.ban,div#ban {
display: none !important;
}
div.ban_bottom,div#ban_bottom {
display: none !important;
}
div.ad_wrapper,div#ad_wrapper {
display: none !important;
}
