Dilemma: Returning trades

Thu Jul 22, 2004 1:16 am

Someone trade 2 Chokato tables (200K each, r98) for my deluxe money tree stamp (worth 17K, r85). He is asking back for it saying it was his mistake, offering 50K more for it. Should i be nice to him and trade back? Please reply, i have a little more than 10 minutes to cancel trades...

What does your conscience tell you to do?

Nah, as I have posted on my lookup, all trades are final, if you make a mistake, oh well.

I'm trading it back. As much as the nps i will earn is attractive, my conscience tells me not to be greedy.

Just think how much you could earn, but do what you think is best.

toy, you did good!! I'm proud of you! As attractive as those NP are, remember that they are just pixels! Sometimes there are bigger things in life than online games!

The last time I ended up taking advantage of something like that, was when I bought a Lost Desert Paintbrush in my other account. Of course the reason it was my other account was because it got hacked into. :P So none of us got it....actually it was being sold in the shop for 100k...well thats what the user put it in for, it turned out in the shop as 100 neopoints... So he never knew anyways. o-o

toy, I think you did the right thing. After all, you have to live with your conscience.

I am a wiz hunter and reseller of shop wiz items, but a few times I have found something priced in such a way that you know that the person left off the last zero when they priced the item--like a negg worth 40,000 priced for 4,000. I buy the item, but my conscience just won't let me keep it when I know that the person made a mistake like that. So, I end up emailing the person and offering to return it for the price I paid for it. And, almost always, the player is grateful that someone was kind enough to do that. Sure, in essence, I lost nps that I could have kept--finders keepers and all that--but the nagging in my head would kill me if I kept it.

Call me a softy, I guess.

EDIT: I'd just like to add there is a difference between an "underpriced" item and an item that was obviously mispriced by leaving a zero off the end. I do buy underpriced items all of the time and resell them for the market rate. And, my conscience doesn't bother me whatsoever in those situations. If someone puts a low price on something because either they want to sell it instantly or they are too lazy or foolish to look at the shop wiz for the market rate or they are just feeling generous, then it is not my job to instruct them on the proper way to play the game.

It is good to be nice, makes me feel proud. I know more neopian wealth will come my way. :D

Good for you. Unless the person neomails me, I usually don't give items back, but if the person does I almost always trade it back. That was a very good thing that you did. :)
