Now I know how the wishing well works...

Mon Apr 16, 2007 6:49 pm

This morning I decided to test the wishing well. For a while I have been using it, but I was always very sure to type in the exact name of what I wanted. That is, if I wanted a lutra, I'd put in Lutra. Or if I wanted a Zomutt, I'd put in Zomutt. Well today I decided to just put in random stuff. So I put in the word "chocolate" a few times. I also typed in "krawk" a few times, just for good measure, lol. Well I finally got a wish granted, I got chocolates.

So basically, if you have ever used the well, don't type in the exact name of what you want. Chances are you aren't going to get something rare anyway. For example, if you type in the word "money" you might get something called a money tree, I think, which is a gardening item. If you type in "paintbrush" you'd probably get the paintbrush plushie.

If you type in "negg" who knows what you'd get. You might get negg shaped candies or a negg stamp or anything with that word in it.

So don't type in the exact name of what it is you wanted, just type in what the thing is itself, like "bike" "Negg" "stamp" "fruit" "sword" "plushie" "toy" or something like that. You'll get something random, probably not what you were expecting.

No. You can type in the exact name of what you want, it's best if you do, but the things you were asking for were too high a rarity. I can't remember what the limit is exactly, I think it's 90, but it doesn't give out any items with a rarity higher than that or any of the non numbered rarities. That's why you'll see tons of baby paint brush plushies every now and then. It's because newbies type baby paint brush, which it will not give out, and instead get the plushie.

You should also try _ < It just means a random word ,
E.G. you could say _ potion and get something that ends in potion

How long does it take to respond?
Is there an effect between donation and success? Or timeframe?

I'm anxious to know, now - I've never actually used the wishing well.

EDIT: Another question: Is there a limit to how often you can use the well?

I'm not sure how likely it is to win. I used to donate to it as a daily for a few weeks at a time, but I never got a prize.

I just got up this morning and checked and no one had a wish granted today. So I put in about 1000 np in 100np increments. I just wished for random stuff like chocolate and stuff. I never put in the exact name for what I wanted this time. But I must have been wishing for for more expensive stuff before than the well can grant. I wish I had gotten a chocolate item I could have eaten though. These chocolates are just a gift that can't be used but someone must have wanted them for a quest or something because I sold them.

Wait, so were the chocolates even worth 1,000 NP? I thought it didn't make any difference what you donated, so I always assumed people just donated 1 NP at a time. o_O

I always though it was a rip off. I tried it a few times, but no luck.

Actually the Wishing well can give even retired items, or at least that's what they say here.

And they say:
Does the amount I donate affect my chances of getting my wish granted at the Wishing Well?

It does not matter how much you donate. Whether your wish is granted will remain completely random so feel free to donate as much or little as you want!
at the FAQ section but they said that it does affect here.

So, well, who knows what is the real thing...

Well I sold the chocolates for 900 np. So I got some of the money back that I spent. I really wasn't "worth it" to do this. But it was fun having a wish granted and trying to figure out how the well works.

Weeks 36 and 37? Um, okay...whatever. Those are too old to be of much relevance today. Maybe it did way back then, but I'm fairly certain it doesn't anymore. Most older players who even bother try going for things like avatar items, which are worth more than they would usually be given their rarity. The hand painted scarab used to be a very popular item, back before it was downgraded. However, as far as I know, the amount still doesn't matter.
