Donations Linked to REs?

Lately I've been getting tons of RE, including Faerie Quests. I've also been donating lots of stuff (mainly junk and a few spare NP here and there) to the Money Tree. I've heard that the two are linked, specifically the more you donate the more REs you get. Is this true, or mere coinsidence?

Sorry if there is a topic about this, I didn't see any.

Wow.

Now that you mention it, the day that i was donating a lot of dung for fun, I got 2 faerie quests. One of them was a Faerie Queen Quest too. Maybe Neopets is fair for once. What goes around comes around.

Load the dung trucks!

actually, this rumour has been going around since the day i play neopets. it was one of the first few rumours i heard. logically, i don't think donations and REs are related but i know that most of us hold a level of expectancy after donating, due to the rumour, which sometimes results in more refreshes.

another observation is that i get loads of REs from refreshing the world page...i wonder if my fellow restockers observe the same thing?

Well, there's been a LOT of discussion about this. Some people say no, they've tested it and there's no difference. Some people say yes, they got an increase in REs when they started donating. I tried donating myself for a couple months, in the first few weeks I got one faerie quest after another, but after that I didn't see any difference in the frequency of REs. Lately, I've been getting a lot of REs, but I haven't donated anything for months. My theory is that it's random.

Ah, so just a rumor. I have also been playing Neoquest 2 lately and that's where I've been getting most of the REs, but before them I played games like Sewage Surfer, Cellblock, and Pyramids a lot and I didn't get anything. That's what made me think of the donating. Perhaps it depends what you donate, like perhaps something along the lines of dung won't get you anything.

I donate items faithfully every day--and I get more random events and/or better freebies than my family members who never donate. I often find codestones on the floor and, just last week, (don't mean to gloat) I won a pb and 15000 nps from the fruit machine and four hours later, got an icetravaganza scratchcard from the scratchcard kiosk. But that is a rare event, I am sure--I doubt I will have that much good luck in any one day again. And, not all random events are good--I also get ghosts taking points away, pant devils stealing items, bruces passing by saying hi, and battledome challengers (which would be good but I don't battle).

Personally, I think the rarity has something to do with it. I donate ten items that are rarity 130 to the money tree every day-- they are things that Illusen and Jhudora give out for quests--I can often get them for about 1 or 2 np each on the shop wiz.

Even if it doesn't work, 10 nps a day is worth the gamble. And, besides, it gives me a chance to go into people's shops and snoop around for bargains. Because if they are pricing a poisonous lollypop or Jhudoras brush for 1 np, they might be underpricing other things as well. And the bargains I have found doing this!!!!! Just today, on my hunt for a poisonous lollypop, I found a shop that also had tyrannian pb priced for 99,999--which can then be resold for about 225-250K.

So, I will continue doing it regardless of anyone's theory to disprove it. It seems to work for me.

It is true, I donated a bunch of junk, and some nps, and I got lots of codestones, and random events, also donating high rarity items, like early Jhudora and Illusen's quests work extremely well!

i got 2 fountain faerie quest after i donated 200 items or so

I agree with everything Morningstar said. I donate a little each day to the money tree. Right now, I'm low on NP, so it's been less, and I've gotten less RE, too. Also, I've noticed when I take alot from the Tree (while hunting for pack rat av items), I get more "Pant Devil steals..." RE. Humorously enough, I still haven't gotten the av.

yeah, this rumour has been going around a lot! i think they're not related though!

HuM. I also heard that if you are donating 100 np to the money tree per day, you'll get motre RE...
I know a lot of people are saying that it is a coincidence, but, I'll try.

I donated 60 Poisonous Lollypops and got no RE, but yesterday I got 5 useless REs.

It doesn't happen instantly.

EDIT: Oh, and Katia, I have read many of your articles on NeoCommentary. Excellent job, I have to say. And, to my fellow PPTers, if you haven't checked out that website yet, you really should sometime. Quite informative.
