Guild Question

If you ban a member from your guild accidentally... can you unban them or is it permanent?

A banned member can be unbanned, by those council members who have the power to change a person's rank. Banning is sort of like a suspension. A banned member stays on the membership list, at the same rank and with the same number of postings as before the ban. They can see the guild's home page, just can't see anything in the rest of the guild--the board, the calendar.

My friend accidentally banned my side account and I tried to go to the guild homepage and I got a "Sorry, you have been permanently banned from this guild!" message. The account also isn't listed on the member page.

Oh, I see. I was confused there for a minute because the word "ban" is listed in the status column when a person is suspended from the guild. There are 3 choices that a guild leader can take with respect to a member: suspend (person is still in guild, just can't see anything other than the guild's home page ), delete (which takes member out of guild--but they can rejoin at later time), and block permanently (which takes member out of guild permanently). It appears, from what you stated, that your friend "blocked" you. I don't think he can undo a block once he has chosen that option. I suggest that he write Neopets to explain that he made a mistake and ask that they take the block off of your account.

EDIT: It does seem to be permanent. I found this in the Guild Help Section:
Can I block a user from rejoining a guild?
Yes. To block a user, click on the Guild Members link under the 'Admin' header. That will pull up a list of all of the members in the guild. To choose a member, simply click on their name. That will pull up an options page which will allow you to modify their current rank and status. To block the member, simply place a check in the Block User option and click on Update Member! The member will then be removed from the guild and they will be prohibited from rejoining.

On the page that the guild leader uses to change a member's status, the word permanently is in parantheses right next to the word block. I am surprised your friend didn't question it before hitting the submit button. But mistakes do happen, I suppose.

Mm, thanks for the help. She told me she messaged TNT so we'll see what happens.

It asks you to confirm that action before the ban is applied. Kind of a hard thing to do "accidentally".

You'd be surprised what you can do on accident if you haven't slept for a day or so.

Been there, done that. Accidentally donated several nice neggs instead of putting them in my SDB. And it wasn't due to lack of sleep, it was because I was chatting with someone at the time and just not paying enough attention. Oh well, I made a few people happy I'm sure. :)

UPDATE: Nefasturris, I don't know if you saw this (or maybe it was you that wrote the question), but Neopets addressed this in this week's editorial:
Is there a way to unban a person from a guild? ~underscoredotid
We tested it out to make sure, and yes... when it says permanently ban, it really means it! Even re-inviting someone will not work. You will get an error that reads: "ERROR: This user has been banned from the guild you are inviting them to!" even if you are the guild leader.
