Labrayed out

Fri Jan 19, 2007 6:43 am

I have a pet that I've been just shooting up with the labray and not doing much else with as far as training. I've been messing around with 1 player and am thinking about turning him into a serious battler. Here is his current stats:

Name : ****
Species : Yurble
Agility : 39 (GREAT (39))
Attack Strength : 106 (LEGENDARY (106))
Defence Strength : 12 (heavy)
Current hp: 178 / 178
Level : 6

It seems now that in order to boost up his strength and defense I'm going to have to get my level up to 97 first. It seems that this would be an extraordinairily expensive way to train him. Is there any way I could affordably bring up strength and defense to be in line with the HPs or would I be better off starting off with a new pet?

(well I just read the thread farther down and realized I'm rehashing the same question...)
I guess my decision is going to be to start a new pet because that looks like it would be cheaper than training up everything to level 97...
Has anyone successfully done a labray/training combination from the start? Are there any things to consider before doing it (aside from the obvious like species changes)?

It's possible to train and lab, but you'll have to stop labbing from time to time, and train the other abilities to match the exorbitant maximum HP given by the lab. Overall, it is cheaper to do both as you go along, if you've already got the lab.

How did you calculate that it would be more expensive? I was in the same situation as you. Actually I needed to train to about level 96, too. The stats were about the same, although my defence was a little higher (about 50). Here's how I see it, let's say you want to train your pet to Level 100 with 200 in other stats:

Start over
Level 0 to level 20 (leveling everything: Level, Strength, Defence and Endurance) will cost (2700*140) 378k (at the Academy 1DC and 2DC are about the same now)
Level 20 to level 40 will cost (7000*140) 1M (also Academy, 5DC)
Level 40 to level 100 will cost 7M (took this from SpireMK's analysis)
Total: about 8.4M

Train from here
Level up to 100 costs 1.2M (20*2700, 20*7000 at Academy, 200*5000 total codestones [40*3*5000 and 20*4*5000])
Train Strength up to 200 2M
Train Defence up to 200 4M
Endurance is already nearly maxed out
Total: about 7.2M

There's not a real big difference in the prices, although training from this point onward seems a little cheaper. More importantly, is the current pet you have worth keeping? I wanted to keep my pet name, no matter if it were more expensive to train

i had a very similar problem with my cybunny and decided to simply get a kacheek for the full healer.
but you need to do what you feel is best :)

Kacheeks do not have a full healer. They have a 33% healer, or up to 67% if you use it at the exact right time (when you have just over 1/3 of your health left). But you cannot have, say, 20/500 HP left, use it and heal to full. It's not like the Jade Scorchstone or the Leaded Elemental Vial. Read the comments here, especially VermontHermit's -- he explains it well.
