Shop of Mystery

I'm curious - is there a secret to the item prices in the Shop of Mystery? It seems that whenever I go, and try to select an item, it ends up being about 500np and crappy (eg red kazoo). Do specific items have specific prices? Is that why certain bags sell faster than others? Do all higher priced bags have worthless junk while 100np bags have the best stuff? I never get anything GOOD in here and am wondering if I'm missing a key strategy when it comes to purchasing.

From what I understand, its totally random. I've always gotten junk, so I rarely even bother.

Did it earlier today, and got a Rainbow Gun.

I bought extensively from the shop to do a study of prizes, and have concluded that the higher priced bags yield the better items most of the time. There is still the chance of getting a dud. I have gotten such items as petpets (White Mallards and Octos) and furniture (Ice Desks and Rainbow Carpets).

Although the items were worth more ... most, if not all, sold for less that what I paid for them.
