Games aren't working at all on my computer.

Mon Jan 01, 2007 2:43 am

Whenever I play a flash game, it lags and chokes terribly. Every time I shoot in Pterattack, it lags so badly that I don't have any time at all to shoot the pterodactyls coming at me. This isn't just a problem with high-action games, either--It's impossible to play even simple games like Hasee Bounce. This is really bothering me.
I re-installed flash (since it's not working on other sites) and nothing happened. I got into the system folder, deleted it, and then re-installed. I tried re-installing my browser and playing on Internet Explorer too and nothing's working.
Does this happen to anyone else, and is it fixable? It's really driving me crazy.

I can't really help you much, as it's been about a month since I played a flash game and the last game I played was shockwave...

Sorry again that I can't help you much :( But if the worst comes to the worst, I'd reinstall Windows... which is a big decision for me teeeeheeeeee

Good luck solving your problem

1. You said it's all websites? Try going through your computer and deleting a lot of garbage, stuff you no longer need.

2. If you have a lot of browser windows/tabs open, close all but the one that launches the game and the game itself. That helps a LOT.

3. Try de-fragging your computer, or at least running virus and spyware/adware checks.

If none of this helps, then I'm at a loss :(

I'll try closing all other windows and see if that works, it sounds like it'd help. I tend to tab a lot of things and wait a looooong time to check them. I'll ask if I can defrag but I can't reinstall windows, this is my boyfriend's old laptop I'm using since our main PC died. It's his call on either of those things.
I deleted a lot of things but I don't have much anyway.

You say you're using IE? Try switching to Mozilla Firefox. :)

No, I've used Firefox for years exclusively. I meant I tried playing a game in IE to make sure it wasn't a Firefox-only problem.

Oh sorry about that. As that was my only suggestion because I don't know very much about computer bugs and such, I'm sorry :[ Try troubleshooting and filing a complaint thingy with Flash.

No problem. If I sounded at all hostile I'm sorry, many Firefox users would get irritable at the suggestion they use IE. :P

I finally did this and it actually fixed the whole problem! I'm amazed. Thanks for the suggestion!

No problem :) I've had the same problem. Of course, I'm on dialup, so it happens to me anyway *headdesk*
