You said you do 1-player only, so it doesn't really matter. You could go with any combination of Ramtors Spellbook, Scuzzys Comb, Stone Club, Ice Club, Pike Pike, Essence of Esophagor, Psellias Fighting Fan, Golden Compass (a great choice because of the added dark defence)... any of those 9-10 iconers. Keep everything else but the Illusens Earth Potion -- it's not nearly strong enough now that you have good weapons and a good bomb (Honey Potion). You can keep the Halo or replace it with a third 9/10-iconer if you want. Like I said, it doesn't matter, but if I was going for a nice mix of icon types, I'd get Ramtors Spellbook, Golden Compass and Stone Club.

You can also check out my first post on this thread for common shields and dual-duties. Search them at IDB to see what they do.

Use the rest of that cash to train (keeping strength and defence balanced), because the next upgrade after the 9/10-iconers is the 11-iconers for 1.2 mil or so each, and they're not worth it. And the next step after that is Wand of Reality/Bow of Destiny, which are 3.3-3.4 mil each. Just train and save up. :)

Strength: 148
Defence: 71

Ive been strickly a one player battler in DoN, and other challenger and in wars/plots

... Looking for any possible upgrades on weapons, or bomb, freezer or healer, i have had scroll of freezing (i think that what it was) but it kept breaking after 1 or 2 uses lol

Mon Jul 03, 2006 9:26 am

I need a budget... otherwise I'd suggest H4000 Helmet, Ghostkerbomb, and Bag of Healing Dust, which are the cheapest 100% freezer, the next decent bomb upgrade and the only non-species 50% healer, but I don't know if you can afford them.

As for the weapons, I've listed all the common 9/10-iconers in my first post on this thread. The next upgrade after them is the TCG 11-iconers (Fungus Ray, Goo Blaster, Garoo Elite Blaster ad Bzzt Blaster), but the leap in price (they're around 1.2-1.5 mil each) isn't worth it for one extra icon. The next upgrade after that is Wand of Reality and Bow of Destiny, which go for 3.3-3.4 mil each, last I checked.

sorry cranberry i knew i forgot something, as for budget i have about 5 mil still sitting around i could work with right now

You're 1-player only, so if you don't mind withdrawing if your freezer doesn't freeze right away, just grab a Black Frost Cannon. Then you can use 3.3 mil of your money to get a Bow of Destiny, which would be a nice main attacker. But if you're tired of breakable and percentage freezers, save up a little and get a H4000 Helmet or Freezing Potion. There aren't any other good upgrades to make with 5 mil (G-bomb is the next bomb worth getting and it's 7.5 mil, and bag of healing dust is the only solution if you can't use a species healer, and everyone's asking 15 mil).

i think i'll try and save up and get the helmet and the g-bomb, thanx

EDIT: I beat the Ghost Lupe, my first goal, just by buying an Obsidian Dagger. However, now I just want to beat stronger enemies. I'll spend 10k most.

My fighting pet is a Kougra. Her stats are as follows:
Level : 9
Health : 17 / 17
Strength : herculean
Defence : very heavy
Move : cheetah
She has the abilities of:
Fireball, Fiery Gaze, Smoke Screen, Fiery Roar, Heal (all level 1)
And the equipment:
Blue Frost Cannon
Purple Sticky Hand
Large Metal Shield
Improved Lightning Beam
Scarab Ring
Obsidian Dagger
Pale Elixir (2) for healing :)

10k is not enough for anything useful, I'm afraid. I suppose you could grab a couple of scarab rings and an illusens earth potion, but... eh.

For the beginners first starting out (and I mean real beginners, people who haven't even trained to the 20 boosts and don't want to spend any NP), you may want a set something like this:

Main attacker: obsidian dagger, enchanted wooden bow if you have a few nps to spend
Main attacker2: scarab ring
Defence: Downsize!
Healer: lesser healing scroll (later: greater healing scroll)
Freezer (useful in one-player only): snowglobe staff
Bomb: illusens earth potion
Shield: leaf shield, mystical white cloak, virtupets x-514 super shield (depending on icons thrown at you)
One-use bomb: sticky snowball, fire muffin, whatever (search "snowball" and "muffin" at IDB and decide) or a purple sticky hand if the 1-player opponent has something worth taking.

And the ability burrow... later, try to get the ones I listed in my above post.

Your strategy for a semi-tough opponent would be something like:
Round 1: Snowglobe staff (withdraw if no freeze) + main attacker + burrow
Round 2: Illusens Earth Potion + main attacker + fierce attack
Round 3: main attacker + downsize! + species ability (bottom one)
Round 4: one-use bomb + shield + species ability (bottom one again)

Then they should be dead... one would hope.

Now, that is a very very basic set and will be fine up until the 35 strength/defence boosts, pretty much. After that, if you want to continue on in DoN and do okay in wars and whatnot, you NEED to be willing to invest some NPs into your training and your set.

After finally finding Commander Garoo, I wiped the floor with him and then proceeded to do so with Tekkitu, also. However, I then took on the Meerca Henchmen and I was seriously pwned, despite my 244 hp and 157 strength. The two were dishing out more damage than I was expecting and that was...not good.

However, I just read somewhere on this board that 1-player is EASY because you know what the enemies are using. SO, I went to the idb and found the weapons the Meerca Henchmen use...except I'm REALLY bad with the battledome and all things battledome associated. What weapons (mainly defensive ones) do you suggest I use against the Henchmen? I want to be able to do some decent damage while not taking 100+ damage at the same time (my defense is laughable).

If it matters at all, I was using dual scarab rings. I would have used my Psellia's Fighting Fan and Stone Club...except the scarab rings provided me with defense. Suggestions?

The 125 strength boost is sufficient for the Bros (you can beat them at the 55 boost if you have great weapons and at 85 if you have decent weapons). The problem is your scarab rings -- they are just too weak for you to be using against these guys.

You should think about selling that fan and getting a Golden Compass instead. Almost the same icon types, same number of icons, and it has added dark defence.* But in the meantime, this strategy should work for the Bros, since your pet is plenty strong and has enough HP to take some little hits:

Round 1: Freezer (if it's not a 100% freezer, withdraw if it fails), strongest attacker, burrow
Round 2: Two strongest attackers (honey potion would be one, if you have one), berserk (or fierce if your level is low)
Round 3: Two strongest attackers, sink
Round 4: Strongest attacker, downsize!, 6-icon species ability

See, no dual-duties needed, as burrow, sink and downsize should provide enough defence. They really should be dead by this time, but if they're not, see if you need to heal, or if you can absorb a blow (in which case you'd go with your good weapons and defend, or a weapon, a shield of some sort and defend). If they freeze you, this strategy could get screwed up, so maybe withdraw, heal and try again. Good luck!

*Although... wait, you say your defence is laughable? If your defence is really low, no shields or dual-duties will do you a bit of good. Defence boosts work like strength boosts... see my post on this page (third one down) for an explanation. The only things that will help you are percentage defence items like downsize! and the faerie abilities burrow and sink, or full blockers (at the IDB, they will have a crossed-out icon and a little "all" next to it... see Ring of the Lost). Don't waste your time with Scarab Rings or Leaf Shield or any of those non-percentage weapons.

Thanks very much, Cranberry! ^_^ I took some of your advice, getting both the Sink and Burrow ability and I didn't know you could withdraw so I just withdrew anytime I got frozen (which happened a lot) until I finally took down those Meerca Henchmen (and the only weapons I used were a Stone Club, Scarab Ring, and Battle Muffin). ^_^

To maria_: As far as my knowledge goes, the most useful faerie abilities are Sink (Dark Lvl 30), Burrow (Earth Lvl 10), and Drain Life (Dark Lvl 21). Erm...it might be a bit difficult to obtain those abilities at level 1, but you bet they're useful! ^_^ Uhh...I also believe that Restore (Light Lvl 22) and Healing Vapour (Water Lvl 27) are useful. Other than that, I don't think you should bother with the faerie abilities. Just fierce attack instead. ^_^
