For those portal users out there, you can now Beta Test Volcano Run II. It is not yet known if the avatar will be transfered over from VR I to the new game, and in what way if it is. Safe bet would be trying to obtain the avatar and trophy now before VR I is dragged, kicking and screaming, to the Game Graveyard.

wow...I don't know about the rest of you, but I really like the update of the game...it's a lot better...a definite improvement
What is the avatar score for this game anyways

3500 points

I dont have premium anymore, so I cant experience it, but Im wary about the update. VR is one of the few games that load quickly on slower connections, and dont have tons of extra graphics to weigh it down. If I cant still win a couple World Challenges or get a quick 3k NP on the new version, I'll be a little disappointed. They havent added any new controls, have they? Im not going to have to press 'up down up left right down down up' to do flips and fancy moves while dodging between boulders, right?

Not sure what I think of it. Seems a bit slow for my liking.
The controls are relatively the same - still the mouse to go up/down (when released).
However, now you press x to speed up, and z to slow down.
The gems are still there, as are the fireballs and the rocks.

I'm still wary about this. Volcano Run is my favorite and best game. I'm one of the best players at it on the site -- I can win the World Challenge with one score send per hour, and I sat in a gold trophy spot for half of last month. I'm worried I'll suck at the new one and that lovely income will be harder to get.
It does look nice, though, and now that I have a newer computer, I should be able to actually play it. Heh.

X and Z really? Thats the worst news. VR is my favorite game, and I wont be able to play it for NP anymore (I dont have a left forearm/hand.) I can understand a game revamp, but why change the controls? Im so let down now. There are already a group of unplayable games for me, and I dont mind it because they've always been that way, but... Im used to being able to play this one
If they start doing revamps like this, Im going to kick them. Or start learning to use my toes I guess.

Wow.. That looks very improved <.> Now I should find someone to give me it hmm...

*sighs*
I'm currently 80th place in the game.
Volcano Run I was much better.
*has just spent at least twenty minutes in II*
The shield only came to me once, and it didn't last long (much like the ice cream shield in Ice Cream Machine). Or maybe I lost the shield because I was flying between two fireballs... but I think I was paying attention at the time.
It has an incessant speed. And it's slow. Argh. I liked it much faster
The standard gems are worth the original 10pts, but there is also a red gem worth 20pts. Not really sure if there are any more.
THERE ARE LAVA THINGYS!!! Argh! They scared me so much!!! They have a really loud sound and are really quick and really hard to avoid. Argh. I couldn't get through that.
Erm, yes, that's my little "moan and groan" on Volcano Run II.
But to be fair, it was a great update; the graphics are much better.

I did better than I would ever do in the original... Only 180 points off from the avatar. (1500 points)
I found it extremely annoying that I only got one shield in the game that I played... and that the second and third tries are harder than the first.

I got 1303, but now my three score sends are used up, so I have to wait until after midnight if I attempt to shoot for a trophy. The controls are sort of like Volcano Run, but he can't fly as close to rocks/fireballs as he used to be able to, and he can't fit through as small of spaces, which bothers me. I also don't like that the gems stop after 450-500 points. If you don't make your first run your longest, you're probably not going to get a high score because the game gets difficult after about 700 meters, when groups of three fireballs show up in the tunnels. I don't like that the shield only lasts five seconds, either.
I do like the "speed up" thing. I like the graphics, and the 20-point gems. I like the speed, which I originally found a little slow, but got used to. I like the lava spouts that come up from the floor. Overall, it's pretty decent and I think I'll get good enough at it to win World Challenges. But I miss my best game, Volcano Run.

I wish the speed up/slow down actually sped it up or slowed it down, instead of just moving to the front/back of the screen.

Wow, so boring, why does it have to be so slow?? Sure, I might have sucked at the last game, but at least that one was fun.

The first 5 seconds or so are great, and then the game gets slower, and slower, and slower, and you get the point. Surprisingly, I've probably gotten my best score on the new version of this game, but I just can't concentrate long enough to get the avatar score.
