Training Ratio Question

I had heard somewhere (and for the life of me I can't remember where, but I think it was a thread here) that while you can only train up to 2x ___ per level point, you could train 3x HP for every level point.

However, when I misclicked a skill duing free training the other day, I got this error:

ERROR : No statistic can go above twice your pets level (16 * 2 = 32). Your highest statistic is currently Hit Points at 99. Please increase the level of your pet first!

So, does that mean I have to train up to 50 level before I can start training her other skills? I was under the impression I'd only have to train up to level 33, and I was wondering if this was just a typo on the site's part (since the battledome is kind of outdated), or if this really is the case.

At the Mystery Island school you can train hp up to 3x, but then if you want to train anything else you need to get level back up to half hp. At the Pirate academy, hp can only go up to 2x level at any point.

It would really be nice if ALL pets got free training on birthdays, but I guess if your over level 40 your outta luck.
