Why Doesnt This Surprise Me?

I dont like usuls. I think their ugly, and creepy. Especially Gilly {fromt he newest plot}. Its been days since my last spieces change, and the bad thing, I've been stuck with an Usul. And now, I find out the featured game deals with them ugly little critters. I swear, someone is determined to get me to like Usuls...and I want who ever it is, to realise, it aint gonna happen.

I got stuck with a purple Usul from the lab and it refused to change species (or even colour- have you seen how hideous the purple one is??!!!) for over a month.

Typical, cause when I get a desert poogle it gets zapped to something else within a day

I don't have anything against usuls but I agree with _ei. I think neopets uses them because they're easier to anthromo. .r. .ph. . that word.

I agree. Still...other Neopets are easily anthropomorphizable (wow, big word), too, like the Krawk (being used also). Generally, things with two legs. I'm sure they could think of another if they wanted.

lol, I thought there was a "po" in there somewhere. But can you really see a poor, distressed little girl krawk wandering the woods at night alone as an object of pity? I wouldn't be offering help, I'd be running away! I understand what you mean though. I'm kinda getting sick of the usul as the main character as well.

Just looked at the pets, other ones I think are easily to make more human-like like are: Aisha, Blumaroo, Draik, Ixi, Kacheek, Kougra, Kyrii, Mynci, Nimmo, Shoyru (that would be AWESOME)...just to name a few. I bet it depends on artist's preference, at least in part. Do you think the same artists have been working on the last few plots?

I don't think there was any usuls in the Darigan/Meridell plots.

I can't remember any.. but I'm sure there have been some hiding away somewhere.

I personally want to see more Draiks and Grundos getting involved (I know grundos aren't technically "neopian" and so don't have a place in plots pre-sloth but there should me more of them!)

Also Ogrins. Have we seen an ogrin character yet?

My mind is a blank, but thats what happens at 5pm on a friday.

Hannah started it off with her Pirate Caves game, then she got a SPINOFF plot of that with the Ice Caves. Then came the pirate Usul guy. Not as annoying as Hannah, but still, an Usul. Gilly doesn't bother me as much as Hannah and the pirate guy (what is his name? I've gone completely blank o-o), but she's an Usul too. XD

Do a plot with a Bruce as the main character please TNT.

Brucy B was the main character of the Discovery of the Lost Desert plot, which had a war and everything. Those were the days.

I don't mind the use of Usuls, actually. They aren't my favourite pet, and I'd only ever own one if it was Desert, but I don't mind them (especially Gilly. She amuses me).

Good point. The thing about Usuls is that they look cute, little, and weak. No, not all Usuls are like that--I've been beaten by enough of them in the battledome to know. However, being cute and small-looking makes it pretty easy to sympathize with them or worry about them. Would anyone fear for the safety of Gilly the Lupe or Gilly the Krawk?

(If you've ever seen Wag the Dog, there's a scene where they discuss the associations people have with kittens and puppies--that's similar to what I'm talking about.)
