For the Editorial portion of the Neopian Times there is a question about the PPL contest from hotgirl1987. Could someone explain the second part of the answer to me?

In the second type of retirement, there is no chance of an omelette or spork winning the PPL (there are rules, you know), so the item ID of the old Petpet will never come up. It has no chance of winning the PPL.

I'm just curious, is there a specific example of this?

If I understand it right, basically if there used to be a petpet but it was changed to a food or some other item and not some type of petpet, those few who still have the retired petpet attached and unchanged can never get a PPL for having it. In otherwords, there will never be a PPL award for those petpets.

I don't know of any petpets that were changed to a food or item though.

There was a glitch years ago that allowed people to attach any item as a Petpet.

Yeah, it (and a lovely faerie eyrie) were on the servers for quite some time. I asked a staffer about them a while back and she said they will never be released (unfortunately). They may be redrawn by a different artist and released that way, but not as the current versions. I just hope the new eyrie is as good (or better), because I really wanted to make mine that color.
