Question about the TP cookie grabbers

I'm a little confused about the cookie grabbers. Are they on the Browse page? The reason I ask is that I just found a lutari bead and the wish list was listed as 1np. That strikes me as immensely suspicious.
Should I change my password now that it came up in the search? Or do I have to do something more to get scammed?

To answer your question, no, you don't have to worry about the browse page as there is no user edited html on that page. Cookie grabbers were lines of code being placed on customizeable pages like user lookups. I believe TNT has taken steps to prevent such code from working now. I'm sure other, more knowledgeable ppt-ers will correct me if I'm wrong about that.

Sounds to me like you found someone who was lazy filling out their trade info or just likes being bombarded with worthless trade offers. But, hey, you can always give it a shot! You might just get a REALLY good deal on a bead!

These days, you can never seem to worry too much, but in this case, I wouldn't worry. I've run across a few weird wishlists myself (2np for 'Making the Finals'?) but unless you see large white spaces where there shouldn't be, or anything else 'unnatural', I wouldn't worry too much. For the moment, the worst seems to have passed.

So. Interesting thing here...
I made an offer on the bead, just to see if it would work, and then when I clicked on "Offers you have made" the name of the bead appeared to be in Japanese or Korean or something.

I made a junk offer on another bead (and quickly cancelled it) to learn that the bead should in fact show up with the proper english name.

Now I'm confused. What's going on here?

Well, the user who owns it is Japanese and most likely views the site in Japanese. Perhaps that's glitching what you see?

ETA: Yep. Just found another user from Japan with a trade and the same thing happened. Apparently you are see the items you are trading for listed in whatever language their owner has set.

It's suspicious, but not a reason to worry about looking at the trade even if code could be added there. After all, asking for 1NP does not make the trade any more likely to be viewed, you search for items, not price ranges.

It makes it more likely to be bid on, but that seems rather harmless. More relevantly, it makes one likely to view that user's userlookup to find out more or look at their other trades. That's one thing you might want to be vaguely careful with.

Precisely what I was thinking. No matter what precautions TNT makes, there will always be people out there trying to scam others... and with the right know-how it is possible. I try to avoid looking at user lookups of people I do not know.

All I can say is always use a PIN on everything, and if something seems weird just change your password.

You will come across many a "free" or "1 NP" trade wishlist only because such people would rather catch your attention than ask for what they want. What they really should do is just start an Auction, in my opinion. They are usually also looking for the best offer or just don't seem to care. Many such users do not even check or accept/reject offers when online. What I do is just make a decent offer, and check their user lookup when I am online to see if they are online or been on in "less than one day ago." That way your NP won't be tied up in futile trades for very long.

That's simply where someone has written something like "ewww" or "awww" and the trading post has removed the "www" thinking it was part of a link.
