Definately a scam.

As much as it would be good to get rid of this scammer, at the moment, she hasn't done anything wrong for you to report her. You are only exchanging nmails, but if you tell her not to send anymore nmails and she does, it could be considered harassment.

If she is annoying you, then just block the nmails.

I don't know -- she's asking you to *give* your item to her, and you're supposed to trust that she will then give her item to you? And when she wouldn't bid on your trade, you offered to have her set up a trade that you could bid on? And then she thought you were scamming her? If I have this right, then she is definitely trying to scam you.

There's no guarantee that you'll get anything from her if you just give an item to her. I suspect she'd say "why are you asking for my PB when I never got anything from you? I knew you were a scammer. I'm reporting you!"

Of course, since you weren't foolish enough to do this, she could just say "no, really, I was going to send my item." So Daze is right -- she hasn't technically done anything wrong. However, I'd still report it. It falls in the gray area enough that you won't get in trouble for false reporting. If she's trying this with you, chances are she's trying it with other players. If someone falls for it, at least they'll have a record that she's done this more than once -- it might help her other victims get their stuff back. And if we're wrong and she's dumb and paranoid rather than a scammer, she won't get in trouble.

If she's not going through the Trading Post, I'd definitely be concerned. I'd steer clear if I were you.

i'm confused as to why the person is saying to send them a hasee?

there is no reason... NO reason whatsoever... that anyone should ever do a trade by "send item to user" rather than using the trading post.

Just DON'T do it!

sorry you got stuck with someone like this; hopefully they leave you alone now.

Yikes!! What luck, eh?

It's really sad that people try to scam fellow Neopians like that. The second one is definitly reportable because of the password request too!!

I think you were right to stick to the TP and ask the person to put thier item in trades and ahve you offer. This cannot possibly give the other person any fear of cookie grabbing.

BTW wasn't it just VISITING a tainted trade that allowed the cookie grabbing and not having to offer on an item?

Tue Aug 08, 2006 1:03 am

btw, what is cookie grabbing ? o_O :D

Report and block. It's a gray area so,like Siniri said, you won't get in trouble if she isn't really a scamer.

Wow, how do these people find you?

I mercilessly get left alone apart from the odd "lykE PNG!! gimmi uR Petz0rz!!" messages but that's the perils of lending on the AC I guess....

Tue Aug 08, 2006 1:54 pm

I get alot of scam messages as soon as I put an expensive item up on the Trading Post. Ah, who'd have thought reporting could be so much fun

Aaaah that'll be it then, I never have anything of value to sell ;)
