Shores of Lutari Island

Wed Jun 28, 2006 6:08 pm

On the recently released page for lutari island there is a line that states:

To find out more about Lutari Island and how you can visit its shores, click here!

The link provided has the address: http://www.neopets.com/process_click.phtml?item_id=8750 however this just takes you back to neopets.com. The link on the new features page is the same. I was wondering if any one knows what this link is supposed to do.

I could be wrong, but I think that link only works for neopets members in the US. When I click on it, it takes me to the page to sign up for neopets mobile and I'm pretty sure that service is only available in the United States.

Here's a screenie...

Sorry it's so small.

Here's a bigger picture (only 90% actual size to fit the forum limits):

And here's the Lutari on the "Learn More" page.

I would have gotten the whole page, but ImageShack isn't working for me, and TinyPic doesn't give you a thumbnail option. :( But here's the text:

You can e-mail me the screenshot as an attachment, and I can resize it and put it on my photobucket if you want. :)

Just PM me and I'll give you my e-mail. ^^

Thanks, but it's kind of pointless now that I consider it. The only things on that page are the Lutari and the text, both which I posted above. :)

Maybe this article from the Boston Globe might explain things:

A WIRELESS FEEDING FOR A VIRTUAL PET
Author(s): KIM-MAI CUTLER Date: June 28, 2006 Page: C1 Section: Business
Vacation no longer means starvation for the millions of virtual pets around the country.

MTV Networks unveiled a mobile version of its children's Neopets website yesterday that lets owners feed and play with their pets on the go. The unit of Viacom International Inc. bought the site last year for $160 million along with other online properties to keep up with its youthful audience's shift away from the TV screen. Last year, about 39 percent of the site's 30 million users worldwide were 12 or younger. Aimed at 12- to 17-year-olds, the mobile service works seamlessly from computers to cellphones, meaning a meal fed to a pet on the phone will also show up on the website. Cingular Wireless LLC will charge $2.99 a month during the three-month trial in North America.

Neopets live in the mythical world of Neopia, with many lands from its moon Kreludor to the underwater city of Maraqua, rebuilt by King Kelpbeard.

In the mobile version, users get a brand new species called the Lutari and can pick up rare items like beads for the Neopets Talisman.

It's a neopets game you can download onto your cellphone, you can also earn an avatar from it :)

So only US users can get the beads for the talismans that are now in everyones userlookup? How unfair! *goes away and sulks* :(

Sometimes you can find someone willing to give away a cocoroll code, which means you can have the avatar even if you don't have the phone/game/live in the US.

I'm not happy abouy this whole Lutari island thing. At all. They could at least have made it so some of the island is availible to non-us-money-paying people :x

You might be able to do the talisman anyway. the beads seem to be inventory items, so you can buy them off people who have the Neopets mobile dealie

But what would be the point? What does the talisman actually DO?

It also says you could find them in RE's

Beads can be obtained by referring a friend who then signs up for Neopets Mobile, via Random Events as you explore Neopia, and other ways that have yet to be discovered.
