Newest neopets / ebay scam!

Tue Jun 27, 2006 7:27 pm

I came across something on Ebay today, and thought I'd warn other neopets users.

It seems that people have been selling various "million neopoint game guide"s on ebay for a couple of pounds (or dollars) each which profess to be able to help you obtain x amount of neopoints each week.

You pay a few pounds, and they'll e-mail you a guide to getting millions of neopoints quickly and easily.

Out of morbid curiosity I bought one of these game guides (ended up costing me £2.00 that's about $3.50) All it contained was basic tips such as "play all games three times a day for maximum neopoints" or tips stolen from various neopets sites including PPT!

I just thought I'd give people the heads up, it's yet another case of "if it looks too good to be true it probably is" but alot of desperate neopians may be tempted to buy such gameguides for a quick fix.

Weird....very very weird. A clever idea, I mean, if the person in question didn't actually care if they got frozen or not, they stand to make a few extra dollars from doing nothing at all.

To be fair they don't actually have to give their neopets name as it's ebay, so there's no way for them to get frozen. It sort of shocked me, as the person I bought mine from has sold over 400 of these... I did't think 400 people would have fallen for it! Unless it was all morbid curiousity that caused those other 400 people to buy them like it was for me.

Does your morbid curiosity always lead you to spend money?
cause it can get you into bankrupt if it does...

If it had cost any more then a couple of pounds I wouldn't have bought it :D But I thought two pounds for a bit of amusement wasn't too bad, and if it happened to have any useful tips I'd not come across, then all the better (unfortunately it didn't :P )

As long as they give you what they said they would you can't give them negative feedback.

When I started Neopets people were selling neopoints and item on ebay. But now Neopets has treid to put an end to it.

Neo's been fighting back against people trying to sell np, pets, items and even accounts on ebay I think forever.

As far as these "guides", they've been floating around ebay for at least a month. Not having the person's neo username? If TNT decides to get involved with this, that's not necessarily going to be a problem. ;)

To be honest it's a fabulous money making scam if you can pull it off. The one I bought was £2.00, he's sold 400 of them in the last month so far... that's £800 for doing nothing! :o

It may be naughty, but if you need the money..... :roflol:

But since the info isn't new. It's not really valid. Especially that it's robbed from other sites etc.

Doesn't matter if its new. They still gave you what they said they were giving you.

However, with the robbed information. If you can prove they stole it from a site eBay will handle that.
