Hooray! At long last I managed to get my grubby little hands on a team jersey! It was Kreludor, though, so more popular teams may remain in that forever in the "untouchable" category.

For those who had read my post about a warning I recieved, it was a misunderstanding of something I had on the Neoboards, I said about having a contest for most wins for Darigan Citadel. I meant that as a "who wants to see if they're the best" kind of contest and not a "I'll give you a prize if your wins are the highest" contest. TNT took it for the latter and wrote me up.

The shop, however, is in absolutely no danger and orders will continue as they had in the past.

Thanks for the team jersey you got me :)
I hope you manage to explain the situation and the warning gets cancelled, or something.

I also decided to go shopping and bought other 3 jerseys for a grand-total of 70k. I hope the prices keep going down in the last week or so, but I'm not going to wait until last minute to buy them :P

I didn't mean to come across like that, I wasn't offended. He was trying intimidation and I was just trying to explain (...in my ever long-winded and complicated way, lol) that it wasn't a working thing and not everyone (i.e. the neoboards) was going to take it the right way. Doesn't bother me. Heh. Sorry bout that, though.

It's okay, Ecstacy; I agree with you... though it's the bragging that bugs me more than the intimidation. Shadow, I know you don't mean to, but you're actually turning some people off Darigan with all your "I'm so great and I score so many points and my team will crush all of you and I'm only sharing my faerie ball strategy with Darigans and I'm going to scare all Darigans into working their fingers to the bone getting 500 wins" talk. ;)

And, from a nice IDBer:

an easy way to score with the mutant/faerie ball, is to have one forward on one side of the goal, and bring the ball up the field on the opposite side, pass the ball across the crease, and shoot! the goalie isn't super speedy, so this leaves you with an open net. (picture)

Others suggest standing fairly far from the goalie, in the center, and shooting right at him (the ball should curve around him and go in) -- but this only works sometimes, and apparently the quoted strategy works for the IDBer every time. I very rarely get the faerie ball, so I haven't really been able to try. :)

This does seem like a way to always score (that is, if the ball doesn't curve the wrong way when passing to your team mate :)), but the disadvantage I see is that you first have to get two players right in front of the goal... With the other stragegy, you can just use the first player who gets the ball and either run towards the keeper (faerie ball) or to a side of the goal (mutant ball, I use it the same way as the fire and snow balls). This way it's just way faster if you manage to get it in with your first shot (happens about 60% of the times, otherwise it's just chasing the opponent who gets the ball, which isn't that hard when you're playing with Roo, those guys are even faster than the faerieland players :))

3-1, L>R, Faerie Ball Shot 90% success rate

Fri Jun 16, 2006 12:39 am

This is how I work with the faerie ball with a 90-95% success rate.

Let the other team take it first (they usually pass to the side, to "my right" if I am moving from left to right) then go ahead and steal it from them (3-1 formation best for this I find). You will be grabbing it from an angle then make a sharp turn in a straight line into the field towards the center then another sharp right angle straight toward the goalie, get just close enough and shoot face on.

If this is not clear I will try to capture a screenie or illustrate it later.
(Will be away from keyboard and be back in a few hours.)

Current status with Meridell : TRUCE

riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggghhht

Now we're on our third war against Meridell! Only this ones a little more user friendly...

Well, we have a bad record right now, losing 2 in a row... but 3rd times a charm, right? maybe this time we'll stomp meridell!

Fri Jun 16, 2006 2:50 am

Argh. Why am I always against Krawk Island? I should've picked Brightvale or something.

Fri Jun 16, 2006 2:57 am

Blargh. I didn't know the practice round scores were being recorded. I only sent one.

Fri Jun 16, 2006 3:02 am

Im super excitd for Darigan vs. Meridell.... The ultimate battle of good vs. evil.... the battle of dedication vs. popularity!

According to my poll (not me, but my poll).... we will beat Meridell.
Mystery Island will beat Krawk Island.
Haunted woods will JUST BARELY beat Krawk Island
Roo Island the not-so-much-underdogs will beat the Lost Desert.

EDIT:

um, so will it not let you score above 9 points?
I could ABSOLUTELY SWEAR that I was on point 9, and going for point 10, because i was SUPER excited when i scored my 10th goal.... it showed me scoring on them, they let out a new ball... and then.... i still only had 9 points.... what?

Fri Jun 16, 2006 3:22 am

I hope you're right, TWW, but I dunno... your poll records popularity only, and that doesn't matter in the cup. What the teams need are good, dedicated players who can send a lot of wins.

That said, I will be doing my part for Roo Island later tonight!

here are my two cents on the last faerieball argument:

just want to say I have no more probleme with it (even if in the start I was one of those who complained the loudest about it :P ), I can score with it in the first seconds

There is the spot where you should stand to shout. You should shout directly forward, just in the inside of the net. Excuse my pitiful talent with paint  (I'm not the one who discovered this, I take it from someone in this forum, but I dont remember who, if you recognise yourself, THANKS!!!!! )
Be carefull not to be too close, or the ball will rebounce out of the net. But if you are accurate enough, the goalie will never have time to get it!

Another think, I dont know if this may help anybody, it's an habit I developed after the first round when I got VERY annoyed by their defender being just too smart. This is the path I usually follow to shout with all other balls, going around the defender, ironicly, prevents him from reacting at all (and it takes about one more second max)
Image

And the only thing I really starts to hate now is the fireball. It's the only one they manage to score with, when they pass it backward on the kickoff, they just get the kick of shouting from afar, and when they do, pretty often I dont have time to get it. Or even more frustrating, my middle forward (well, my only forward, I play 3-1 :P ) get it when they shout, but as I starts with my middle def, I dont have time to switch and they just go through, get it back and shout within seconds and score :x :x Grrrr, that's the only situation still giving me trouble, luckily, it does not happens very often. And sorry for Roo supporter, their AI does seem to do it even less often then the practice team! :P

Well, I'm back on collecting victories, go LD, we will rule forever!!!!!

Fri Jun 16, 2006 4:10 am

yup... its official... you cant score more than 9 points..... which sucks... ive had REALLY good scores... ive had 10 zip 3 times, and although its virtually impossible, i actually scored 11 goals.... but still remained at 9, ugh..

wow, im excited...... im allready at 30 wins! I like thinking I might actually make a large addition to the team... i wish i could know EXACTLY how they score.... to think maybe im making up 1/500th of our teams points or something.... im now getting 9-zippo every round in just over two minutes.... yayyyy
