How do you play teams other than the practice team?

Sun Jun 04, 2006 5:42 pm

we would have to wait for the tournament to begins!

Feel free to laugh at my most kittens question thus far. How come I can't GET the ball and how come all it does is get stolen from me?

If I "bump into" the ball on accident sometimes I get it, usually not. And if I do accidentally get it, I lose it so fast of course I can do nothing with it.

I must really be that slow or something. There should be a Special Olympic version of this game for me, or else 3 levels like Slow, Normal, and Advanced. Or a click by click version that doesn't MOVE so much. :P

If there is any team already so bad it is hopeless, let me know and I shall join. I would hate for my scores be submitted if I were to start "practicing" after things officially start. And seems we can't opt-out?

EDIT: By the way, Hangman, your video is nice. Can you remotely control my arms and brain for me? I can set up a receiver, wear a nice aluminum foil hat and ... use my shortwave radio to ... wait that won't do it. Oh well.

This page tells you how to play other teams.

First a comment - so far I hate the game, every time the opposition kicks/touches the ball it goes straight into my net where I'm clicking away with the mouse and a lot of the time nothing happens and when it does the ball hits the post or the goalie or goes wide. It seems impossible to get the mouse back fast enough to move my goalie to block a shot. The game play is pretty poor - I'm moving the mouse about trying to guide him up field but keep moving the mouse over another of my players so the one with the ball looses focus. It might be better if each player were numbered and switch by pressing the appropriate number key.

Can anyone tell me how to switch teams so I can try one of the others?

I think you can switch teams here: http://www.neopets.com/altador/colosseum/join.phtml

As for your comment I tend to agree, but think maybe it is my mouse, too. I use a trackball and seems it is too sensitive for this game? Someone else said they are using a tablet and stylus. That seems like it might work better then you can "draw" your plays out in a square. I wonder if one of those "in the air" mouses might also work better? (Hmm, mouses? Mice, Mices?)

just a test

Thank you, I hope people can learn the basics from it a bit... And well, there's something as a "remote desktop", where I can control everything that's on your desktop, so I could be using your computer and playing the game for you as if I was there :) I don't know if it would run smoothly with the Altador Cup game though... But I never mind helping people out in whichever way possible... And I know you have (or had, I remember you once told so during the LDP) RSI, so I can imagine how mouse-controls aren't your thing :)

By the way, for everyone who has missed it in the last split, I've made a little video that shows you the basics of scoring with a snow and fire ball, which you can find here:

Thanks for that video hangman ^_^

Does anyone know a good guide for the game? I still don't understand this "toggle" thing. :)

You're welcome! And what do you mean by "that toggle thing"?

Sun Jun 04, 2006 7:46 pm

Apparently you can toggle between players. This is what the Yooyuball instructions said:

"If you'd like to toggle between players, press the left and right arrow keys (o the 'A' and 'D' keys). To activate a player when toggling between them, press the spacebar. "

The only keys you really need are space and shift. If you want to switch players just move your mouse over the one you want to move and it'll select it for you. The shift key will move your unselected players into their starting position, which is useful if you have them bunched somewhere and need them to move without selecting and unselecting each individually. Space just unselects the player you're using. That's all you need.

I find it much easier to just quickly fling my mouse over to where the other player is rather than fiddling with hitting buttons. It'd be different if the play area was way bigger or something.

Hey hrm, this may be useful to me. But what is the point of unselecting the player you are using? Then does that mean no one moves until you put that mouse over a player again? I always thought I was very good with a mouse (or maybe I just suck that much more with a keyboard).
