this is my pet's stats.

Level : 40
Health : 299 / 299
Strength : ULTIMATE (150)
Defence : AWESOME (76)

do u think i shld carry on labbing or shld i start training by codestones?

Why not do both?
Using the lab may increase your level, meaning less to buy, and it may increase your str and def which is good anyway.

Hehe since you need 110 levels I'd say codestone training for the next months ;) Once you evened up try the lab again

WoW! I agree with Zenial. I say bite the bullet and train your to even the stas before using the lab. Or if else, you can get weapons that is not defence-dependent.

The lab is very unpredictable and has more often then not, lowered some of the stats on my pets, level being the worst hit. I use it only on a pet I don't mind getting screwed up. Currently I'm using what used to be a Zafara to try and get a Krawk or Draik but in the process, have gone through several species up to the current Mutant Kougra. S/he has some very disproportionate stats because of it.

The best way to raise stats IMO is to do codestones, Coltzan and faerie quests.

It's advisable to do both training and the lab so that your stats don't get too imbalanced

Von Roo isn't as bad though I don't use him anymore either. Tired of staying up late to remember to visit him too. :P

Can the lab ray still zap your pet's level to 1?

Mon Jun 05, 2006 3:45 am

Hasn't done it to me but I have been knocked down to level 3.

Some people claim the lab can only knock your level down to 1 if you are below 10 (I know someone who's had it happen at levels 5 and 8. I have also heard of people who've had it happen at 20 or higher, but that was apparently a glitch, and the 5 and 8 could also be a glitch for all I know).

Many people (including me) believe that you only get the "and he goes down to level 1!" message if you're around level 2-3 or below. And this is because... say your pet is level 2 and the lab selects the "lose two levels" option. Obviously you can't lose two levels, as this would drop you to 0 and that's impossible. So it'll say "and he goes down to level 1" instead.

In any case, once you have a bunch of levels, you're safe. You think garet_jaxx would be labbing Grephun right now if his level could drop back to 1? No way.

If you want to lab and you also want a balanced pet, you must be very careful with your labbing and training. Make sure you keep your level around half of your HP (which will be your highest stat) at all times. If HP starts to get too high or level too low, stop labbing. Strength and movement will take care of themselves, but you will have to codestone train defence as well as level. Keep your pet balanced, and take breaks from labbing if you're getting unbalanced.

The other option is to just forget about defence and go all out labbing strength and HP. This is okay if you only ever want to play 1-player (and remember, you could easily change your mind later and want to try 2-player, so keep that in mind). This is a big choice, so decide NOW (before it's too late to turn back) and be careful.

(I was just forced to train my defence from 42 up to 200 (soon 250) at 5/6 codestones per stat point because I waited too long to balance my pet. It's not fun.)

I lost two levels tonight and am at level one. This pet used to be level 30 but the Lab Ray has pretty steadily kept it down in the 10 and lower level since this began. Just because you have a lot of levels, doesn't mean you're always safe.

Either way though, it's terrible about balancing stats, which IMO are more important than anything else. A high level but low defense or low strength pet is easy prey.

You can use both lab and training, but then you really have to spend almost all your time at training school getting levels. On the rare occasion that your levels are actually up to half your hitpoints you can quickly train some defense, and then it's back to level training. Frustrating and tedious, but it is the fastest way to train your pet.

No, of course not, and that's not what I meant. What I meant was that you're safe from having your level knocked down to level one in a single zap.

The lab has always worked this way: it increases HP like crazy, it increases strength and movement pretty steadily, and it lowers defence and level. If you want a balanced pet, you MUST train level and defence as you lab, and you can't lab constantly -- you have to take short breaks every now and then to re-balance the stats.
