What's the best course of action against the snot meerca?

I would also like to know someone recommended me the fire muffins can anyone confirm me this?

I found a good barrage of snowballs followed by a few hits with the scarab ring and a leaf shield worked. Snowballs seem to work the best though I think the muffins may work as well.
