What are World Challenges?

Sun May 14, 2006 8:33 pm

On the flash challenge page, there is something called WC, which you can apparently get some form of map from.

I hear these maps can sell for high prices.

Can someone explain what WCs are, and how they work?

Cheers.

Are the random prizes you can win any good? Is it worth collecting all of those puzzle pieces?

Well, I was lucky enough to win a peice; and it was worth 30K.... The game only took 20 minutes to win, and even if I lost, it's only; what? 100 NP? =D

It depends. On one hand, I've gotten a Maraquan paint brush from converting one of the maps. On the other, I've also converted a map and gotten a codestone. Yeah...very random. But that was before TNT implemented the new rules and supposedly changed the prizes, mind you. Also, the world the map comes from usually doesn't have anything to do with what prize you get - in other words, buying a Maraqua Map doesn't guarantee you a Maraquan item. (The Maraqua paintbrush I got was from converting a Faerieland 2 map.)

I'd say that if you earned each piece by entering the challenges and playing the games, then yes, in most cases it'll be worth it. But if you buy each piece from users' shops, you run a greater risk of losing a lot of NP. (Prices of individual pieces can vary wildly depending on the kind of map.) However, having said that...if you're not too good at any of the games they offer, and either can't or don't want to get better at them, then you may find that trying to earn each piece is too frustrating. Especially since the WC rules were changed, months ago - and if I get into discussing how I feel about those, I'll...probably wind up getting myself banned. <_<

So...I guess just try entering a few challenges and see how you like it. Try varying both the games you play and the time you play them. After doing that, you should have an answer to your second question that's more definitive than anything I could tell you. :)
