Meridell Dump & Item Discard

Is it true that when you discard an item, it turns up in the Meridell Dump? If not, does anyone know how items appear there? I've only seen 1 item there before. Thanks in advance.

Ther meridell dump is just random, mostly useless items, and the occasional codestone and good item. they appear there from nothing. discarding simply deletes the item entirely, i believe
