Aaah... This whole Altador Plot reminds me of Jesus' disciples!
* The Darkest Faerie resembles Judas, the "betrayer".
* And yeah, the 12 Heroes of Altador = the disciples!
* Plus TDF's "13th" statue, which is located deep in the depths of Maraqua!
* Altador (which was meant to be set in the Middle Ages) = Jerusalem.
Yeah, this is what I get just from watching "The Gospel of Judas" at National Geographic Channel!
Do you think TNT uses this whole Altador Plot as a secret plot device to promote Christianity? Mere coincidence? Am I just reading too much into this? Post your opinions!
(Hey, I didn't say King Altador was Jesus!)

I think you're grasping at straws. It is probably just a coincidence.
The plot is clearly about Star Wars. 12 members on Altador's council, 12 members on the Jedi council. It's so obvious.

lol im sorri but i have to agree with this one.. neopets is trying to subliminally drag us over to the dark force through "plots" and "games" lol

Neopets is now owned by scientoligists. If they tried to include them in the game, we would be questing for bodies for stranded souls and killing alien rulers. o.o

Doesn't have to be related to religion, doesn't have to all-out defend that it's "clearly about Star Wars". People, don't read too deep into it, seriously. At the end of it all, it's just a plot.
Just my 2 cents.

English major geek time! *ahem*
The similarities can be attributed to Vladimir Propp's
Morphology of a Folktale
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladimir_Propp
According to him, all stories (even when we tell "real" ones), while not having every step, follow these steps in order and contain the same elements. It's a type of pattern. Cool, huh? Can you guess what my English paper is now? lol. So, I think that the Altador plot's resemblance to religion is merely coincidental, the just have the same tale pattern.
*steps off geek box* hehe.

I agree. I think it is purely coincedence in this case as Neo is usually pretty strong about not trying to be religious.
Though everyone gets their ideas from somewhere even if they do not know. So who knows!

I agree that this COULD BE an idea by Neopets based loosely off the bible. Many times in the past, TNT mentioned how they get plot ideas off of real movies such as Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, and a few others I can't remember right now. Why can't they get an idea from the bible? I'm not saying they did because we don't know if they did or didn't unless they say so.
But I had the idea since the plot started that it could very well be loosely based off the bible. Now that DOES NOT mean I'm saying certain events will follow suit. I'm saying taking different ideas from that. Like the 12, a betrayer, etc. Mentioned above of course.
Now whats going to really bake your noodle is if King Altador has "the betrayer" purposely "betray" him and Altador as there is the story that Jesus has Judas purposely "betray" him and was a secret between both men making Judas not a betrayer but doing as Jesus told him. To those that don't know of this, Judas is a betrayer.... to those that knew of this, Judas would be a top-supporter of Jesus and doing what was expected of him and not questioning that.
Look it up people..... not saying this IS what Neopets will do, not saying its a fact.... but I think people need to think things over a little more and be open minded to possibilities instead of passing things off as coincidence.
If it is fact, that TNT used that as a base idea, I doubt they'd admit that. It puts them in a position of "pushing religeous views" and to some "picking a side on religion". This could hurt Neopets. So it would make sense to loosely base a story off something in the bible (or whatever else), like MANY writers have done in the past, but not publicly admit what influenced their ideas for certain stories and most importantly not have the story resemble that story they got the ideas from. And be so different in storyline, that the reader comes developes their own assumptions on where certain story ideas came from.
So if you think its just coincidence, well then TNT has done their job correctly (if they did use some ideas from the bible) because that means you do recognize the similarities but need more things before you say "yeah, it is". That would be okay because that would make their story a copy and mark them as "rip-offs".
Think about it.
EDIT: I also wanted to point out that I'm not trying to defend any religion. I'm agnostic. Just trying to point some things out and open up minds before making clear cut judgments.

Hum, Jesus had 12 disciples, HE did not count in...
So I suppose that, THE ARCHIVIST IS THE MESSIAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The astronomy club president is Pilate and will come back with an army to arrest and execute the archivist when we will have the 12 constellations, and we will need to wait 3 days for him to reesurect and then, he will remember everyting he forgot about history.
And, by the way, the janitor is the virgin Mary.

Neopets isn't owned by Scientologist Doug Dohring anymore; he sold Neopets to Viacom a looong time ago.

I still think Altador has more Greek mythology influence than anything. That's what I've thought since the first time that I saw the 12 statues.
The Yurble Janitor is the Virgin Mary...

Well... there's a few things wrong about this
(1) Any stuff about the Altador plot needs to go onto the Altador thread
BUT! before you start going on to post about this there,
(2) Topics around Religion/Politics/... are kept on a tight leash, and the leash is being pulled here.
