All evening long, I have been getting a banner ad on Neopets that is completely preventing the pages from loading properly. Sometimes I have to refresh 5 or 6 times to get the ad to change so the page will load. This caused me to have to make several attempts before finally completing the klatest part of the Altador plot. I also can't really do anything on the site because I am spending all my time refreshing.
I emailed them about it.
Is this just me?

Adblock it! Need to know how?
Internet Explorer
Step 1: Put the following into a word processor and save as a .css file of your name choice and your location (remember where it is).
div.ban,div#ban {
display: none !important;
}
Step 2: Go to "Tools" in top pulldown and select 'Internet Options' at the bottom
Step 3: Go to 'Accessibility' int he bottom right.
Step 4: Select User Format Sheet toggle box
Step 5: Select your document.
Step 6: Click "Ok" and exit
Firefox & Netscape
Step 1: If you don't have Firefox already, get it. Configure it, etc.
Step 2: Download these 2 extensions in Firefox after installing the browser -
AdBlock 0.5.2
https://addons.update.mozilla.org/exten ... dows&id=10
ChromEdit
https://addons.update.mozilla.org/exten ... .php?id=17
Step 3: Restart Firefox, then click on Tools - Adblock - Preferences
Step 4: Add 3 new filters:
http://images.neopets.com/buttons/*
http://images.neopets.com/728ads/*
http://images.neopets.com/ads/*
Click Add button to save them. Then click done.
Step 5: Go to Tools - Edit User Files, then click on the userContent.css tab.
Step 6: Scroll all the way to the end, then enter a new line:
#ban { display: none !important; }
Click the Save button.
Step 7: Restart Firefox and enjoy an ad-free NeoPets experience.
EDIT: Manually edit css file for NEWEST version of Firefox
1: locate file. Usually found at
C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\chrome\userContent.css or
C:\WINDOWS\Profiles\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxxx.default\chrome.
(xxx is randomly generated numbers) on most computers or you can search for userContent.css
2: Open file in notebook and paste the following at the bottom
div.ban,div#ban {
display: none !important;
}
3: Save
4: Restart Program
If you want to block more than the irritating top banner, try this instead
@-moz-document domain(neopets.com){
div#ban{display:none;}
div#bottomban{display:none;}
td.tl > object{display:none;}
#mb + form{display:none !important;}
}

I had tried that. Unfortunately, even though that prevents the ad from displaying I still must refresh the page every time that particular ad would have been displayed.
The ad with it's bad code is still being loaded, just not seen.
Now instead of the ad on a mostly blank and broken page, I just get the blank page sans ad.
Doesn't make it any easier to use the site.
Can't do auctions or restocking or anything where time is a factor.
Can't searh the wiz without getting banned much more quickly than usual for all the refreshing.
...and so on.

I used the .css method and get no blank spaces or broken images, unlike just adblocking that leaves the space behind.
THANKS for the extended version that gets rid of that naughty 300NP stuff at the bottom of the page that really messed up my gaming.

Ahh, how I love Firefox + Adblock + Filterset.G Updater. It makes my web browsing experience pleasant.
Edit: In fact, I love Firefox so much that I wrote a rant about my transition from IE to Firefox which I so cleverly titled "
My transition from IE to Firefox: a small rant"

the way my internet is set up.. we can only use IE *grumbles*
the annoying ad i've been getting is one for anz, which even though its the size of normal banner ads, somehow makes all the yellow border (at the top) take up all the page.

Luckily you can remove those annoying headers in IE as well.

I assume from the replies that...
A. I am the only one having a problem with this particular ad.
and
B. There is no way to keep that ad from loading until TNT does something about it IF they ever do?
EDIT: I finally managed to filter it away. I think.
Nothing I tried was working there at first. Sheesh.

If you change your language, you won't get ads. Mostly you get a lot of internal ads for a game, or a suggestion to visit the temple of 1000 Tombs. It also does not load anything in the ad box at the bottom, so it's faster.
Be careful when you are moving things in and out of inventory - do not discard or donate by mistake!
Everything else is easy to pick up, what with all the pictures and all.

Oh wow, I never knew you could get rid of the ads using the .css method. Thanks for the tip! -immediately puts into effect-
