So.

Sat Feb 25, 2006 6:48 am

What's been happening for about the past year-and-a-half or so, in a (big?) nutshell? I've missed some stuff.

My biggest and foremost questions:
Are there now any ways of making money other than restocking or hoarding?
Are there better ways to train?
Do petpets have any new significance?
Are autobuyers still a problem?
How's everyone doing?
How far have you advanced since, say, May of last year?
Have there been any good plots?
Have the plots crashed?
Has neopets gone south?

My biggest and foremost questions:
Are there now any ways of making money other than restocking or hoarding? Not really.
Are there better ways to train? New training school for those past level 200?.
Do petpets have any new significance? No.
Are autobuyers still a problem? Yes.
How's everyone doing? .. Fine?.
How far have you advanced since, say, May of last year? Started fresh a month ago.
Have there been any good plots? Yes !!
Have the plots crashed? .. No?.
Has neopets gone south? Eh?.

There was the Maraquan plot, which was okay:
http://www.neopets.com/water/plot_com.phtml

The Lost Desert Plot was amazing, though. Well thought-out and fun for everyone. The amount of speculation and collaboration among the PPTers made it fun. One of our own was among the first 3 to complete it. ^_^

The Lost Desert map was re-done, along with a few others.

The Hannah and the Ice Caves plot: http://www.neopets.com/winter/plot_hic.phtml

Techos got a makeover.

You can now get broken items fixed, for a price: http://www.neopets.com/winter/brokentoys.phtml

The Secret Ninja Training School was opened: http://www.neopets.com/island/fight_training.phtml

The Gnorbu, Hissi, and Xweetok pets were released.

http://avatar.starried.net/ opened to help people get and keep track of their secret avatars.

New pet colors, like custard, biscuit (cookie), camouflage, and others came out.

This week's editorial said that Altador will be unveiled within the next couple of weeks or so.

There's a Petpet Lab Ray map, but you have to have the regular lab ray first.

Newbie packs were changed to give you a non-tradable basic-color PB and an non-tradable origami petpet.

Changes to the World Challenge map piece acquisitions. Check the thread specifically on that one if you're interested.

There's more, but those are just a few I can think of.

The biggest things were probably the plots, and Flash Challenges. Those are pretty self-explanatory, so I'll leave it at that.

Not just one. There were six people in first/second/third, and three of those people were PPTers. ;) (I was in third.)

World Challenges WERE a great way for gamers to make NP, but they have been ruined.

How's everyone doing? Good :)
How far have you advanced since, say, May of last year? Finally saved up enough for Darigan PB and Kougra morphing potion, but was utterly broke after. Finished NQ II evil since then and getting close to 1 mill again (counting stocks im over 1 mill tho). Been training lots, too.
Have there been any good plots? YES!
Have the plots crashed? Small irks, overall superb compared to previous ones though.
Has neopets gone south? Eh, depends on your point of view.

Welcome to PPT Icyshelf and welcome back to Neopets. A lot of things have changed in the past year and a half. Some people have given a wonderful synopsis of events. I'll answer your questions as well though, just so you have even more people to listen to :P

Are there now any ways of making money other than restocking or hoarding? World Challenges used to be a great way to make money for some people, but there have been some changes in the past several weeks that have made this way of making money not so great anymore. To read what's going on with the World Challenges, read this thread: http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24508

Are there better ways to train? Not that I know of. There's still the training places on Mystery Island and Krawk Island. There's the upper level training school on Mystery Island, but I don't know what stats you have to have in order to use that school (I obviously don't have pets with stats high enough). Other than the training schools, there are still faerie quests (you don't know which pet will be affected, so not a reliable way to train), kitchen quests on Mystery Island, and Coltzan's Shrine. I use the lab to train one of my pets. It's pretty unreliable because things can go up or down, and you have no control whatsoever, but it's fun.

Do petpets have any new significance? The only real significance petpets have are avatars. If you are an avatar collecter, there are quite a few avatars that require aged petpets. There's also now the petpet laboratory. Your petpet can gain or lose levels, get name changes, color changes, or species changes (which can help you get one of those aged petpet avatars).

Are autobuyers still a problem? Of course. If only there was a way to stop them. And now there are other problems to deal with, mainly cookie grabbers. See this thread if you're interested in what's going on with that: http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24440

How's everyone doing? Pretty good here. Neopets life is good. Real life, not good, not bad, just there.

How far have you advanced since, say, May of last year? Quite far. Finally had over 1 million Neopoints in the bank. Bought a couple morphing potions for my pets. Bought the lab map and petpet lab map. Bought a weewoo. Completed the Lost Desert Plot (you may see it referred to as the LDP). Participated in the Maraquan plot.

Have there been any good plots? Oh yeah! The LDP was great! Best plot I have ever participated in. I would have never gotten through it though if it wasn't for some wonderful people here at PPT.

Have the plots crashed? Well, the Hannah and the Ice Caves plot I thought was terrible, especially with the battling. And there was to be a new Sloth plot with Kreludor, but TNT never got it off the ground.

Has neopets gone south? In some ways, yes (ads anyone?). In some ways, no. I try to see only the good things. If I concentrated on the bad things all the time, I probably wouldn't be playing anymore.

I'll second every word of that!

Things change. Seems like for every activity that changes in a negative way there's also something good that's added or some sort of positive change. The good thing about Neopets is that you can choose what activities you want to do. The Neoboards may be a font of Lame, but I don't have to use them. (I come here instead. ^_^) If I like restocking, I can do that. If restocking goes south due to autobuyers, there's always something else to do, like games or a plot. Lately I've been working on some of the harder avatars, playing Neoquest II, investing in the stock market, and a few other things. It's great that there's so many aspects to the game. :)
